I am trying to install the AEV Procal Snap. When I pulled the OBD port it didnt look like instructions. Looking further back it looks like a splitter was installed to original port. Does anyone know if this is factory or after market? I bought a 2021 Mojave edition. I dont see anything that looks aftermarket on the gladiator but this and dont know what it is for.

When I wiggled and tried to pull apart everything on the inside power wise jumped on and off. So afraid to mess with it till I know what it is. Not sure if you can tell anything by these pics. But it looks like the zip tied item is what is hooked to the OBD port.

Probably a GPS tracker installed by the dealer.

Hard to tell, but it kinda looks like an auto start/stop eliminator. I had one on my Gladiator for awhile.

Just remove it. It's not part of the Jeep.
When I started to unplug it, interior lights and dash panel glitched. Like it is wired into other things. Could it be part of the factory nav system?

All of that still works, unfortunately.
With the one I had on my Gladiator, the system still worked. The eliminator just remembered the last state....so if ESS was off when last driven, it would be off when re-started.

Definitely looks like a tracker to me. If you snip the zip tie it should have some FCC identification numbers on it and such. Dealers use them for a variety of purposes. Mine had one, not disclosed to me, when I bought it. I unplugged it from the OBD port and tossed it in the trash. Technically speaking they probably should have removed it themselves when they sold it but most don’t care since they pay so little for the units. Some will use them for repo purposes as well.

Yeah that 99% sure to be a tracker.

1) check your paperwork from the purchase of the vehicle......was there a clause you missed. If not, game time.

2) called the dealer and inquire about it......they will either acknowledge or not. If so make an appointment to have it removed. If they deny it and it was a new vehicle aka you were the first titled owner.......inform the GM you're contacting a lawyer.......they will remove it lickity split.
2a) that's not an OEM part and Jeep can track the vehicle from the UConnect system, so this was redundancy added by the dealer.
3) just say fuck it and remove it. Then take it back to the dealer and tell them to shove it up their ass and let them know your reporting the issue to BBB and leaving reviews on every platform available to you of their shady practices. Just comes down to how "nice" you want to be.
4) keep us up to date on how this plays out.
5) also remember to disconnect the batteries when playing with or removing electrical shit.

Cheers

its a GPS tracker thats hard wired to your battery via the OBD port and causing a parasitic draw on your battery when your Jeep is parked

I would be more concerned about the rust on the metal it's attached to.

After further searching, now that I know it is a tracker. I bought from a dealer in Texas. The dealer owner's, Victory Automotive Group, has 50+ dealerships around the country. It looks like they install these on all of their vehicles and then try to sell a service using it. From what I have read they refuse to remove, even at time of purchase.

I remember them trying to sell me the service. But we refused the service. In the CARFAX report folder they have all the service they did in preparation for selling. Adding this ELO device was on the list. It was installed when they received the Jeep. 2 months before I bought it.
