Helllo fellow Gladiator owners,
I am looking to replace the factory tires on my 2020 Overland, keeping the stock 18” Overland Rims. I have read several posts, including Sarge502 who had successfully installed Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT 295/70R18’s without any rubbing issues or suspension mods. My only off-road needs are for maneuvering through various types of beach sand to get to the water’s edge and surf fish, launch a Sea Doo, and tailgate for the day...maybe tow an inexperienced all wheel drive SUVer off the beach. I strip my Jeep down to no doors and roof for the summer months, and would rather hear my stereo than my tires. I”ve considered the Coopers above, the Falken Wildpeak A/T3 W 285/70R18‘s, or the Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure w/Kevlar either LT265/70R18 or 275/65R18…any experiences of going larger than stock, tire brands, or other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Striper season is upon us here on the Jersey Shore, Hook ‘Em & Cook ‘Em… Thanks!

I would recommend getting a set of 17’s… way more tire choices, and less expensive too.

The Wildpeaks would have my vote… we have them on our wrangler and are extremely quiet, and actually did well in our Alabama mud

I had the Hankook DynaPro ATMs on my '08 Grand Cherokee Overland (Hemi) and LOVED them. Extremely quiet, and really good tread pattern...I once drove through a foot and a half of snow with about an inch of frozen rain on top of it (around my yard) and it didn't miss a beat. Even on the road with around a foot of unplowed snow on it, went like gang busters.

I am almost due for new tires on my '20 Overland (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19) and that's what I'm going to go with. I don't want to go crazy on size as mine really never goes off road (unless you count driving through my yard around my house when I get home with my trailer) so I am thinking of going with a 265 vs. the factory 255, just to have a little more foot print while towing.

Again, highly recommend the Hankooks for good aggressive tread pattern and extreme quiteness.

I am on the second set of Wildpeaks on my 2020 Sport S. First set went 74K, Replaced the trail terrains on my wife's TJ with them. Great traction in the sand.

I originally grabbed a pair of the AT3W's from a Rubicon and put them on my Sport S. I was expecting the more road noise and finally got used to it. March of this year it was time for new tires and I purchased the Wildpeaks AT4W. It was a night and day difference. The ride quality was better and the noise had gone away. I'm about 15,000 miles into them and they're still great.

Convinced the brother to put a set on his stock Overland rims. There are some noticeable differences between mine and his but he's enjoying them as much as I them.

I stuck with the stock size on the 18" wheels. I replaced the street tires with Wrangler Kevlar AT's.

I had Falken AT's on my Wrangler and OK but even with tire rotation the lasted only 38K and worn out!? Use Stock HT's with my Gladiator Overland with 15lbs on the beach and tow a 14 foot 15hp skiff in deep sand no problem!

Less tread the better in the sand, actuallly my old original CJ5 (see side bar) I used near bald 820 x 15 tires, best ever and towed a heavier boat, never a problem, Flotation is everything, heavy tread digs holes!!

Have fun! Go Jeep!!!

Thanks for the input, and the heads up on the newer AT4W’s, think I’m going with these, a little larger than stock.

Just remember by going larger than stock, even if its just a little, you will need some type of programmer to recalibrate your speedometer, thus getting the correct shift points.

I just had a set of BF Goodrich Trail-Terrains put on in the stock size, it was perfect timing before the snow hits, so we will see how they fare. I was going to go with a K02 or 03, but decided to stick with a more road-oriented tire since Snazz has a Trac-Lok LSD and sees little off-road use. These have very high ratings and great specs, along with a 60k warranty.

So, to update my tire search, I ended up going with the FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T4W’s, LT275/70R18’s, and while at it, I replaced the stock Overland wheels with BLACK RHINO ALPHA's in Matte Black with Sand Lip 18x9 with 0mm Offset. I am very happy with the ride and quietness of the Wildpeaks, and as for the wheels, I think they're great and the color match is spot on…a Christmas present to me to replace the stock Overland wheels, since I really only needed tires, lol...It's a Jeep Thing...
Thanks everyone for the great input!

Nice wheels, not sure about tire choice? Reason, had Falcon AT3's OK but worn out after 38K??? Kinda a short life mostly highway some minor off road and OK in snow, wear was only complaint! That wear was with rotation each 10K too??

Good luck hope all goes better!

Go Jeep!!!

We’ll see how the AT4’s last, I also recall your earlier post about driving on sand. I used to have a ’78 Cherokee Chief with Quadratrac and the power rear window, Indian red with the white stripe, it was a beast on the beach, sadly, by the 90’s it was too rusted out to pour more money into…
