I bought my 2020 in March '20. I put a Tazer in roughly May '20.

I know I was able to find the SGW module then to unhook the cables and plug it into the Tazer because I installed it. I've been to the dealership a number of times for oil changes and a couple warranty issues (sun visor, rear window leak) that really didn't warrant unhooking the Tazer. I asked the dealer if I should and was told I didn't have to for those issues. My JT has been to a private party mechanic for tires and sat at an independent glass shop that the dealer sent it to for glass repair. I noticed the SGW being missing last year when I was installing a front camera and running cables.

I'm pretty sure the SGW module is suppose to be above and behind the OBD 2 port. It's not there! It's just not there and I have NO idea what happened to it. I'm not accusing anyone because I have no proof but I know I didn't take it out.

I have taken the knee panel off and spent a long time looking for it. Can't find it...

Couple questions...

1. Can someone enlighten me? Can someone please show me where their SGW module is? In case I'm just that clueless (poss8bility).

2. Do I need one?

3. If i do need one can I just buy one and install it without programming it?

Consequently, in my search I have found this lone connector not hooked up to anything. Anybody know what it is or if it should be hooked up to anything?

Get a flashlight, look above the bar above the obd2 port near the driver side kick panel.

The only way to see the SGW is to get on your back and look up under the speaker. You cannot remove the panels and find it from above. Buy one of the Tazer SGW Extension Cables and install it, life will be much easier.

The 4-pin Grey connector is for the trailer brake controller.

I've done that and it's not there. I'm super slammed these next couple of days but I'll take the kick panel off and try to take a pic and post it by this weekend.

The funny thing is that the 3 tabs on the module, 2 on one side and one on the other, line up with screw holes on the back of the kick panel speaker box.

That'd be because the SGW bolts to the driver's side speaker housing.

That's what I thought. It's definitely not there. Now what?

Are the loose cables still there? Seems way odd that it would be missing. If truly missing, should show up with scan tool that list the modules and shows a topology.

Cables are hooked up to my Tazer.

I would agree it is odd. But for the life if me it's not there.

Speaker upgrade was one of the first mods I did. Within the 1st year. I don't remember the SGW being on the speaker when I replaced the driver's side knee speaker.

Only places my JT had been were the dealer for Jeep cares oil changes, tire shop, and my buddy who put the leveling kit on.

It had ro have been lifted. I don't see any other explanation, but who?

Anyways. Can't change it. What should I do now?

Just because you don't remember it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. You likely disposed of the SGW when you did the speaker upgrade. If you had attached a Tazer SGW Extension Cable to it when you installed the Tazer, it would have reminded you not to remove it.

If it been fine since, do you really need one?
I'm not sure but I think it just keeps "unauthorized" users out of the PCM.

I just wonder about the future if he needs modules updated by the dealership for any potential recalls or TSB issues? There might be some handshaking protocols that is expecting to see the SGW there for the tunnel through.
