If you were in Jeep Management, what changes would you make to the Gladiator?

Not a Gladiator specific thing, but I think Jeep missed an opportunity with the 4 cyl engine. The original Jeep had a 4 cyl called the Go Devil; I'm bummed Jeep didn't call their new 4 cyl the Turbo Devil, or Devil Turbo or something like that and have a little devil Easter egg somewhere .

There's something to be said for the overall simplicity of cars not that long ago versus the over complicated, electrical doodad laden computer controlled amorphous blobs on wheels that we have today. It wasn't that long ago that YJ's had air-conditioning as an option.

Get off my lawn, turn that crap down, and pass me the Tums.
Hell, air conditioning was optional for most of the TJ production as well. Not only did my TJ not come with AC, it also didn't come with a radio, speakers (anywhere), an overhead dome light (no sound bar), a rear seat, or even carpet anywhere behind the center console.

I should buy stock in Tums.

How about a power drivers seat option in the Sport S and Willys Gladiator (and Wrangler)

Sounds like you need or desire an 1987 S10.....I miss mine. It was a stripper model only option was a 700-r4 auto. 4 banger IronDuke, I threw a blazer rearend into it with 3.08s, static slammed itand was getting 35mpg commuting 120 miles a day. Crank windows and the largest rear slider I could find......that was my AC
Ahhhh, to be young again. 😂

I didn’t realize the diesel weighed 1k more. Thanks for the info. I had no idea. That would definitely change the ride of the Mojave. No offense taken at all. I knew the Rubicon diesel tow rating was less, now I know why.
No worries, those were rough numbers I played around with my build before I ordered mine, swapping in/out the tow package with and without the diesel was really enlightening. The Rubicon suspension is heavy on its own with stiffer springs for flexing and squatting, the Mojave longer travel and softer for soaking up wups and stuff. It makes sense too why they didn't offer the diesel in the Mojave, putting that much more weight up front in a dune runner style truck(maybe prone to jumping, where you would want it to fly like a lawn dart).

Factory trailer brake controller
It's an option but you have to give up your 12V plug down by your 4x4 shifter. I swapped mine out, brake controller works pretty well but I'm relegated to inflating pool floats by other means. I think that was another option I couldn't order at the time, either availability or package ordering logic. I got the Mopar kit for a lot less and it was plug and play. The controller module though was clearly meant to be installed during the build, it bolts to something in the driver foot well that you could only get a wrench on if the front quarter panel wasn't there. There's a nice spot right under the steering column when mounting where it fits just fine.

People have a hard time removing their emotions from their statements I think.

People say a lot of things, talk is cheap.

"I'd buy a 2 door in a heartbeat"

"I'd buy a 5.7 in a heartbeat"

"I'd buy a Hellcat in a heartbeat"

"I'd buy a Cummins R2.8 in a heartbeat"

And that's just specific to this, in every group, it's some dude going, what should I do, and five more people going, man I wish I was closer, I'd slap a Hellcat in that!

The reality is, the data is there, less than 10% of Wrangler orders are 2 doors. They're not selling the Wranglers with Hemis in them now. The diesel didn't sell well either. The focus groups think the Gladiator is slow, loud, poor on mileage, and hard to get in and out of.

You'd need to cast a net of 1000 people going, "I'd totally boy I tell you whut", to actually catch even 1 who would show up at a dealer for it.
I think the focus group was poorly cast and probably done at an unfortunate time.

-it's a truck, not a muscle car
-it's a Jeep, if it's loud, you didn't understand what you were getting into.
-3.0 diesel probably priced a lot of people away, 10k addon but I get mid-high 20s for gas mileage and not feeling shortchanged.
-hard to get in/out, it's a Jeep and you didn't know what you were getting into

All in all, wrong audience to predict on. Yes, it's not the easiest to maneuver into a parking spot at the grocery, not what I got it for, that's why I don't troll for the closest parking space too the door.

Those numbers are not correct…

The 3.6 Pentastar gas engine weighs about 330 pounds

The 3.0 Diesel engine weighs about 507 pounds.

Just as a point of reference my 6.7 turbo diesel in my F-350 weighs 800 pounds…

Now you know.😎
Don't forget about the respective transmissions that go with those engines, the 3.6 and 3.0 have different transmissions. I get your point though, was talking about the Mojave balance for soaking up jumps, wasn't trying to ruffle feathers. I was using numbers off the cuff, I've got steel bumpers and a winch so I probably padded today a little.

Oh man, a factory Aussie style flatbed on a factory JTR would have my money and be very unique in the market. Flip down sides, underbed storage boxes and sometimes a better departure angle. Way wider bed platform too.
I had that in the back of my head, or sell them without a bed like bigger trucks so you can do your own thing.

It is a shame that the Cherokee nation and STLA can't come to an agreement or at least a licensing arrangement. The tribal name has significance in the heritage of the brand and the tribe in the history of the nation. It could be handled reverently if both sides were willing to.
I had a '14 Cherokee sport before my gladiator, kinda made it my own, I know it was a Fiat but, small spacer lift, AT tires up a size or two, just had the 4 banger but even with the bigger heavier tires it was a good daily driver and no slouch getting into 'stuff', and pull my boat. And in the end, a pretty bad ass little station wagon, would have like to sit up a little higher but....eh

You reminded me, hood struts instead of that stupid yellow stick and a power back window
Hood locks go with something I said maybe earlier, and another thread I think about basic functions. I think this is a function that's faked, spoofed, overridden by having a Tazer, you can set it to blare the horn if you pop the hood while there does are still locked. It's a half step towards what you are saying, I don't want another key on my keychain to keep track of, but it's in the same direction and adding that as standard should just be a standard software feature
