Hi all, I need some help. I have searched YouTube and this site but came up empty (probably my lack of online sleuthing skills). From not being able to find the location of the Jeep’s ‘brake light fuse’ in the fuse box under the hood to tricks on getting to the ‘brake light switch’ under the dash for the install is what I’m looking for. I will very much appreciate the help! TIA

Just a follow up to my questions above. It looks like my ‘24 Jeep Gladiator Mohave does not need the Brake-lite Relay Kit for the lights to operate normally when being flat towed. When hooked up and ready to flat tow, the Jeep will go into sleep mode after a short while. The Jeep’s brake switches won’t activate the brake lights when the brake is applied so the brake will not override the turn signals on the Jeep.

That is good to know. I'm wondering if my 23 Willys is the same? I'll have to check that out. What are you using for an auxiliary brake on the toad.

Mike5 - I’m using the Blue Ox Patriot system. The stated ‘test’ to determine if you need the relay kit is to turn the vehicle off and depress the brake pedal. If the brake lights come on you need the relay kit. This led me down the wrong path and after much sleuthing I determined, and validated through Roadmaster, that our Jeep goes to sleep after a short time. After it does, the brake lights will not illuminate. This means I didn’t need it. To check this I left the driver window open with the vehicle and Jeep off. I waited about 5 minutes and reached in through the window with a broom stick and depressed the brake pedal. No brake lights. Good luck.

I will check this out today. I'm guessing even opening the door will wake it back up. I will test that out. So from what I've read, I'm understanding the only ill affect is the turn signal won't work if the brake is applied while the vehicle is awake? And, if this happens it won't cause any harm to the electrical system?

That is my understanding as well and yes, opening the door wakes the Jeep.

My Jeep hasn't been started in over a week. I went out and opened the door and applied the brake and got a brake light. I cycled the key to on and rolled down the window. Went back 15-20 minutes later and reached thru the window and hit the brake and no brake light came on as you said. I turned the key back on and rolled up the window and checked the brake light. No light. Apparently I will have to start the vehicle before the brake light will work again. Nothing I do with the key position has caused the brake light to work again. (I have not started it.) Just this short test tells me after shutting off the vehicle, you will need to cycle the key to on and back off before the "sleep" occurs. I will test this theory thoroughly in the next weeks before I start flat towing.
