Morons at Jeep - 2024 X packages had SelecTrac as STANDARD with the X packages. Buy an X and you got SelecTrac or full time RocTrac in Rubicon X.
Jeep says - hey, we lowered our prices!
What they do not say is "we did it by taking away features.
So I found out that my 2024 Mojave X build from last April didn't translate into a 2025 - no SelecTrac.
So I'm looking for a way to get SelecTrac added to a brand new truck.
It seems to me that someone here did it on an earlier model - like a 2022 or 2023?
I told my wife it won't be cheap - but the one reason I traded my 2020 for the 2022 I have now was to get SelecTrac! Otherwise there would have been little point (aside for a couple of other things I added to the 22 order)
Looked all over pretty much all of last year at the 2024 models - had builds saved and everything - just never pulled the trigger.
Then Mojito came out and I figured, incorrectly, I could say "get me the same thing you had on the lot months ago, but in this color.

I know it would require a transfer case and other "units" and changes in order to control it - perhaps cluster, shifter and other things, so won't be cheap...... it would likely all have to come from a 2024 Mojave X since it's no longer even offered by Jeep according to my sales guy.

I’d cancel the order and order another. That’s if I found selectrac to be necessary. It’s not necessarily on mine with good tires like my Revo 3s. It was on my other trucks, but the gladiator weight distribution is considerably better.

Did you see these threads?https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/selec-trac-swap-in-progress.55291/

And another…
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/selec-trac-transfer-case-swap-myth-busted.56389/

You can’t get a Mojave X with a Select trac anymore….in 2025’s…. not even available as a package. That’s so odd…..
I checked all other levels, Sport, etc. - They apparently just aren't offering it.

Was aware of those in the back of my mind - but I've never seen where anyone did the swap and finished it and told of the price and what was needed, etc. so not sure how things actually turned out, or the cost.

Or - who would be interested in doing such a thing....................

Thats crazy. When I bought my new 24 Mojave X a few weeks ago the SelecTrak helped push my decision to go with an X. There were 2 options I had to have, and some I would like to have but for a few more bucks I got them all and the drive system I preferred. Cant believe they dont even offer it now. Maybe that will make my 24 more valuable in the future. :CWL::CWL:

I almost went with a 2024 when I was looking last year but the stars didn't align, then major health issues, issues with our cats needing expensive treatments and so on - took all of my time and money for a long time.
Then they came out with Mojito and I figured - hey, I have already done all of the research and homework -

I see that someone on the forum has done it - but little information, no follow-up and so I wonder - if these indeed do not come with it, can it be added and is there someone who can do it.

If you are going to be spending the money to replace the transfer case you could swap in an Atlas Transfer case.

Is this the same transfer case they run in the 392s? Lots of reports of burned internal clutches with those, but maybe that’s just due to the greater hp?

It’s a shame it’s not like the old days when you’d probably just need a different driveshaft, gear selector or bezel and maybe a different TC/transmission support. All bolt on stuff.

Probably the HP and torque - they run the same transfer case in the 4xe and so far no no one is complaining. The 4xe blows away the 3.6 in HP and torque.
Not sure what the V8 guys are doing with them - but perhaps they should be running in part time mode instead.

Absolutely love the SelecTrac in my 2022 and it's a necessity in our 4xe. (well, you can't get a 4xe Wrangler any other way)

No, I want the SelecTrac feature - where it's fully automatic. Those are simply tougher 2 speed part time transfer cases. If I want part time - I stick with what they come with.
That's also an increase in complexity - I need it simplified for times when my wife would drive it - put it in 4HA and LEAVE IT there. That would be a big step backwards - not an improvement.

SelecTrac perfect for my use and our roads. It's engaged when you need it, not engaged when you don't, and applies just the right amount of torque for the in-between times. You can turn tight corners with it engaged. It's akin to the transfer case in my Eagle in a way.
I've put my wife's JLU in 4H Auto and that's where it's been since we bought it. She can't deal with the rough/difficult shifting, the short shifter of a transfer case and so on. So that's a non-starter for us.

Did you talk to your dealer , is it an inventory thing and might change in near future?
I think I would be talking to dealer about how you wanted everything as on your last run at it, and they cannot deliver, perhaps rethink the 2024 option. I also love Mojito but my 2021 is getting paid off in about $3,000 in a few months, and even if it came with the hurricane engine and mojito , I really like the auto transfer and use it a lot in winter , and would not be happy…..Jack

I'm guessing they stopped offering them as several people are burning up the clutches in the 4A tcase in the JLUs. I need 4wd to work when I NEED 4wd and the last thing I want are clutches falling completely eliminating front tcase output. I'm sure it's possible to swap one in, as there are many JL guys swapping them out you might even find a deal on one.

They haven't stopped offering them. In fact, for a JLU 4xe, you can't buy one without the SelecTrac. It's standard on 4xe. Dealer says it's also there on the V8s.

I have to wonder how they are burning them out.....................I'll suspect at least part of it is "user error". It's interesting to watch how the clutches apply, not apply, how much they apply and when. You can monitor it in JSCAN.

It got REALLY confusing last night as I went into the build and price site, and pulled up my build, then did a search for 2025 Mojave X on dealer lots.
I found several. Some were "stock photos", not specific to the exact vehicle the dealer had, but I looked at 4 2025 Mojave X's with photos of the vehicle, not stock photos, and was surprised to see that the interior shots of all of the 2025s I looked at had SelecTrac! I could easily tell by the shifter and one even showed the cluster, clearly showing 4H Auto just behind the 2H position on the dash.

User error or not its still an unnecessary failure point for me. If I want 4wd, I'll pull the lever. The 4xe and 392 are both only available with it. If the clutches were only involved in 4A I wouldn't care, but when they fail you lose 4HI and 4LO too.
