Hi All, 2025 Gladiator High Tide.

Recently installed a Tazer JL Mini (ugh those connectors are hard to reach, hahha). After install and NO programming, I started vehicle to ensure all connections were ok.
Vehicle started just fine, but the Uconnect, mainly the Android Auto was really sluggish and would not navigate through the Sirius XM ap.

I read this could be an issue on this forum but saw no remedies.

Contacted Tazer support and they gave me the Upgrade firmware answer. I did that before initial install.

Any thoughts?

You really should (and are supposed to) check for any updates when you first receive it.

I would assume you *Married* it to your Jeep and did a full reboot after marrying it?

Sorry, had to ask….cuz you never mentioned it.

I did above all. Sorry for leaving that part out.

I would retrace all your steps to ensure you performed the firmware update correctly, married it correctly, and properly performed the sleep cycles. They can be tricky. If you’re 100% sure you did it correctly then give it a little time. The infotainment system can be glitchy. Things are known to disappear and reappear etc.

There was once that I wasn't sure that the sleep cycles completed properly. I went in and bounced a couple of settings and ran the sleep cycles again and it straightened up.

Never used one. Have a 2024 Gladiator Sport S, with all LED, except the headlights, meaning I have rear traffic safety plus ACC adaptive cruise control, heated seats wheel, UCONNECT 5.0 using Apple Car Play all the time. What can I expect with a Tazer? The only advantage I’ve heard is to shut off the very bright registration plate lights off in reverse to see better with backup camera. Also the three beep warning getting out with fob in pocket and Jeep running. Oh and I would love to dial down the frontal traffic warning when passing behind a vehicle turning off in front of me! Will I be able to take care of these issues?

I don’t use it (still on stock 33’s) but most folks use the Tazer to adjust tire size when they install bigger tires.

When you disable start/stop - the Tazer will remember that setting the next time you drive it.

I do like the fact it remembers last setting of auto off. If that saves my aux battery then for that alone with it.

The batteries are paralleled together all the time, except during the startup test and during ESS restarts. Whether or not ESS is allowed to turn off the engine has nothing to do with the charging of, or life of, the batteries. The biggest killer is not keeping the batteries charged. Drive it regularly or keep a battery maintainer on it.

You can do that with a much cheaper circuit sold by a forum sponsor and another party out there. Put it in and forget about it - nothing to marry or unmarry, nothing to update or worry about removing for a dealer visit with PCM and BCM updates and so on.
You can adjust tire sizes with AlfaOBD or JSCAN.
AlfaOBD you buy one time and it works on any of the listed FCA vehicles, even if you traded Jeeps every year or have 4 Jeeps in your garage, they don't care - it works on any/all of them.

So I still can't really justify Tazer for me - I've tried, looked over the "features" of both the lite and the mini - and nothing I can't live without since I have JSCAN and AlfaOBD.

Just my 2 cents worth.

There are lots of things a Tazer is useful for. There are some anti-theft features that I don't use mainly because I am in one of the lowest crime rate areas in the entire country, but supposedly deter the most common methods of stealing a Jeep. One of the features I would never want to lose is the ability to turn on the bed and reverse lights from the fob. If you actually USE the Gladiator as a truck, this is very handy, especially in the winter when it's dark out longer. I also like the turn cam, and the ability to easily pull up the reverse cam with a single button at will.

The marry/unmarry thing is less of a deal than some people make it out to be. It's mainly a CYA for the tazer manufacturer. Unmarrying before removing it is the exact same thing as using Jscan or AlfaOBD to revert any changes you made with them before going back to the dealer. If you are not inclined to do that, then there is no need to unmarry the Tazer either. As a matter of fact, for the last few years it's had an option to allow a dealer bypass without even removing it. If your dealer is one of the many that is ok with it (some even recommend them), there is no reason to ever remove it.

But back to the OP's point.
99.99% of "Tazer issues" stem from not following directions to the letter. You/it are doing something that was not designed to be consumer friendly or even done more than a few times in the vehicle's lifetime. The engineers at Jeep didn't bother trying to make it easy for you. If you don't follow all the reboot and sleep cycle stuff exactly, things may be erratic or not work at all.

I have my Oracle backup lights I can turn on with the push of an aux switch - sure, not from a fob, but not a biggy either. I use them when loading up my trailer and packing up camping stuff. With passive entry, I walk up, open a door, push aux 1 and on come the backup lights in the bumper. I had thought of doing similar for the bed lights - using a diode so they could be turned on the same way.
The theft stuff - until they can make that stay in place even if the tazer is removed it's worthless. Pull tazer, steal truck.
I get why others like it - I've just not up to this point found any real reasons for myself.
(note, i didn't say "never" - it's worded carefully)
I understand the sheer simplicity of plugging it in, and it knocks out the license plate lights while in reverse, you can use your turn signal and the backup cam comes on - I see the appeal for that (but I'm so used to mirrors doing that for me...........)

Anyway - yes, to the point of the "issues" - over and over you see that the issues are typically caused by some skipping a step, rushing, missing something, and in at least one or two cases here in the forums - it was a poor connection. They unplugged and plugged it back in, and things worked because the cable connection wasn't great.
Their support is excellent, from my observations.
