Probably going to get a whole complete front axle assembly. Dealership generally do not perform case swaps.Talked to them today and it looks like it is going to work out. The major repairs are going to be made by Jeep and then they will look over it again when they get it back. I‘m so glad I tested It before the warranty ran out.
I will post a celebration photo when I get it back![]()
lol. I’ve watched guys change axles on trails. If the axle is bent I'd think the control arm on that side was likely bent at one time also. I did this exact thing with my JT, I hit a pole with the tire while turning. Missed the bumper but bent the control arm and the axle. After replacing the control arm the Jeep drove the same as it did before hitting the pole. The tire was just ever so slightly back on that side, but you'd never really notice. I took it to a local off road shop for an alignment and they said said the axle was bent, likely right at the FAD. Insurance replaced the complete axle assembly and everything is perfect again. I sometimes wonder if buying a take off axle would be a good idea for any potential damage I do on the trail someday if I get crazy. Then again, how do you know you're not buying someone's old bent axle.
Good Luck
I ended up calling the Jeep dealership directly, just to ask what the diagnosis was and what parts were ordered. This was bad of me, apparently. It escalated a bit, and now there is an email chain so Carmax can send me information directly.Find out what all they are replacing.
