I view this as a "see, we're keeping our promises" more than anything else.
Will it happen?
Maybe.
But it won't make this disappear overnight - or from the Jeep, Ford, GM, BMW, Mercedes or other vehicle you already own.
So keep on pressing that button, buying tazers, or stop/start eliminators, or just let it run. I see little real change here - a bunch of yak speaking to an audience.

all they need to do is redesign the system to not allow the supplement battery to drain from the main battery.
Again - conjecture as it happens the other way around pretty much as often. We've got many cases here in the forums where it was the main battery that caused the issue. Our 2018 Grand Cherokee was among them.
Too much incorrect or "mis-information" out there. And a lot of battery life is up to how the vehicle is not used.
Jeep didn't invent this dual-battery system, nor were they the first or only to use it. They adopted it from other manufacturers so can't say they are behind. There are technical reasons it's this way, as shown by scope patterns during a restart.

they don't NEED to remove it, just program it to remember the last setting.
Not going to happen - they've already received their "credits". Going back now would be a nightmare.

Name the list of cars/trucks where it remembers the last setting. I'm not finding many that do this, only a small handful, European market mostly.

I have programmed "myself" to turn this off when I start the vehicle., and yes Hootbro, I wish it was a "until I want it back" option but not so. Remember, this is not an EPA mandate but an easy gov. subsidy for installing it. They want to stop the subsidies in hopes that vehicle manufacturers stop installing it. Remove the carrot and beat you with the stick.
"Oh no, a scary button that I have to push. How will I ever survive?" Even if I hate it and it only works sometimes, it personally causes me no harm. Most shut it off with a programmer anyway.
I liken it to the person who listens to offensive broadcast material only so they can call the FCC to complain because changing the channel is too difficult.
Just what we need, another personal grievance story looking to become the next culture war.
The simple fact it saves very little gas and just adds to the price the vehicle.

Several studies, including by Edmunds (I'll post this for the 100th time) have shown 7-10%, depending on the vehicle. For a fleet - that is heavy numbers.
My wife and I both notice a savings with our driving in all of the stop and go long long traffic lights, stopping every 2 blocks and so on. We can watch the average literally drop - or not - as we sit at lights and signs. It was a big deal getting around stupid traffic in some of the southern states a couple of years back.
FACT, as you claim, is that it actually saves.

Commuters will save,

highway drivers, longer trips, few stops - no, it won't.

Studies on multiple vehicles by multiple parties have confirmed. Do the research in the dozens of other threads on this.

I know I’ll be Hated for this , but , there are times that I like it . I figured out that it’s the amount of brake pressure. I push on the brake pedal that keeps it from either shutting off or not shutting off so now that I know if I talk to a light and it’s only gonna be a minute and not get the brake pedal down really hard, but if I’m going to be sitting for a while, I know I can jam the brake pedal hard and it will shut off

I learned how to control it with the brake pedal with our 2016 Grand Cherokee.
We've had several vehicles with this system.
One of the first things I figured out. Don't fly to a stop and slam the brakes, anticipate stale green or stale red lights, be an observant driver, in tune with your vehicle and surroundings, and it's fine. If it's a stale red, why fly up to it and slam the brakes- ease to the light, keep rolling, and be gone before others even realize they have green.
I watch the lights for the other traffic - and if they are slowing or have yellow and mine is changing to red based on my observations - I relax with the engine off. I then watch for the flip side and am ready off the line when I get green.
What's the big deal?

EXACTLY.
The precious Jeeps people have and complain about the ESS would likely not exist were it not for these "cheat" or "credits".
Jeep can't survive without it. If you want Jeep to keep on living, you will just have to adapt and accept that in order to survive, they must sell to a global market and either do what's necessary, or pay massive fines year after year and fold, go away.

There's no AMC to come along and save them this time, and no Iacocca to come along and save them again. It's the end of the line - survive or don't survive.
Yep.

Everyone is so wrapped up around "removing" ESS, they don't NEED to remove it, just program it to remember the last setting. This is already the case across multiple other manufactures. The vehicle will still have it, but the owner can opt to "permanently" enable/disable.

Regarding batteries, all they need to do is redesign the system to not allow the supplement battery to drain from the main battery. Again, other manufactures already have it, Jeep just needs to catch up.

For those of you that have "trained yourself to just push the button". Good for you, you don't need to get on your high horse and tell us. We don't care.
If they allow permanent disabling by the consumer, that’s a loophole that likely wouldn’t pass for compliance. I genuinely don’t know why so many people even care. It’s a non issue.

But it irritates them, makes them angry, it's annoying!
(so is half the world, including all of the evening news, almost all facebook posts, most of the drivers on the road, and so on)
Our constitution guarantees us the right to not be annoyed!

You just described 62% of the threads on this forum. Thankfully the other 38% are highly helpful.
