I wish I could do that……. I need it to be ready for rain at any given time. The top /doors come off, go back on, come off, & go back on.

And of course… the weather is gonna be HOT this week and I gotta get ready to go on vacation (without the jeep).☺

When it's off - my JT top/roof hangs in the garage from the trusses. If I need it back on, I back in under the roof and unlock my safety cords, and winch it back down onto the truck and bolt it in place.
To remove it, take out the bolts, run the front winch cords through the front corner holes, secure with dowels, hook the rear cord "fingers" under the rear of the roof, winch it up.
5 minutes up or down and back on. NO lifting! Yeah!

I understand. After finishing up the changes I made to my tube doors, and leaving them on for awhile, I decided make a run at full naked for awhile.

Took another look - that top isn't going anywhere! Solid as heck, a lot safer up there, too.

We have a hoist trolly setup on the ceiling. The top will hang from the hoist …and we park underneath it. THe hoist has a ’brake’ in case it fails. Another reason why we put the ass-end under it instead of the front. We haven’t been worried about it falling……. It’s a quick process.

Nice! I completed something similar just a few weeks ago after picking up a soft top from another member on here(never should have sold mine in the first place). Now I have the hard top put away safely and a cart to store my doors. The top just barely fits under my wife’s wagoneer, but as long as she can still park in the garage life is good.

Same here. Id love to take the back off, but the pop up rain around here makes that difficult and plus theres not an easy storage solution for me. I purchased a soft top but I ended up selling it when i traded my old gladiator in and got a car for a month. I wish I wouldnt have let it go now.

Mine would have to be a similar set up because of the garage door. I see your lift is offset. Is it harder to get the top on and off and does it swing on you? I would do this, but I am looking for a one person option and I don't think this would work.

Ceiling is 10’
Not that hard, just takes a bit of planning….especially the logistics of where the joists run and how/if it’ll work in your current garage area and how you’ll use it.
Here’s a parts list….The only thing I didn’t get off Amazon, was the ‘sign post’ for the actual cradle for the top.

It’s offset to clear the opener…. It needed to be right next to the opener for placement when we back the jeep in the garage. The hoist sits right above where the top is….. We have a mark (piece of tape) on our black cabinet that‘s the centerline of the hoist (per say). We use that as a guide when backing in for side/side placement. We can get it pretty close. But yes….You’d want someone there to hold it while it’s being lifted so it doesn’t swing around and/or hit or scratch the rollbar on the way up. etc.

Once its in the air…it doesn’t swing much at all. We usually push the trolly (with top on it) towards the wall to get it out of the way.

Finally got the top off the floor, and the doors put away for the summer.

Good DIY, but the rigger in me is screaming.

Next time you put the top back on, use a 4x4 that spans the 3 joists and is wider than your top. Lag bolt the 4x4 in all 3 joists, set your eyebolt lags at the exact measurement of where you're bolting through the top. I know you have other things in play supporting the weight, but the two side pulls are putting undue stress on your fiberglass top.
