Man, some of you are a tough crowd :CWL: How about instead of telling everyone else how they should live and spend their money, do like what vacaedzzr1200 says and if you don't like it don't buy it. Get the crapstar V6 if that's what you prefer. Judging by the amount of 392 Wranglers I see on the road all the time, I'd say there is definitely a market for them in a Gladiator. Now I do agree that if they don't get the pricing under control, then it'll flop because the Wrangler nor the Gladiator are worth anywhere near 100k even with the 392 as an option (my opinion, others feel differently I'm sure given the amount on the roads already). Being in the market for a truck around the time these are supposed to hit, I'd consider one for sure if the price isn't insane. I don't have my hopes up though given Ram's recent release of their "budget friendly" truck priced at 50k lol.

Although I doubt they would do it, having the 5.7 in a base model at a reasonable price would be the truck to buy!
Fully agree - slim chances for Jeep to offer up a desired option at a reasonable price on their cheapest trim level.

In lieu it would be nice to have an ‘emission compliant’ 5.7 Hemi crate engine ‘upgrade’ available through the Mopar parts department.

So .. an 74K gladiator is too expensive, but we are supposedly clamoring for a 110K Gladiator? Not me - Ill take an affordable inline 6, thank you.🇺🇸 I also suspect the Jeep Glad lovers clamoring for a 100+K Glad, will go crickets when they arrive. More hope than money!

Price will be insane. I would pay 60K max for 5.7 or that rumored 4.0 next gen engine they have in development loaded with many options. 80K+ for those 392 is out of control and as i said only collectors will buy them. Overall i just want the Gladiator to get some attention and love from Jeep that it deserves. We been the ugly ducklin for far too long.

I would be shocked if they have a 5.7 crate engine for the JT. For everyone who wants one, I hope they do though!

These threads keep popping up like kids trying to figure out what's under the tree at Christmas and hoping and wishing.
If guessing, speculation, begging in forum posts and youtube guessers made something so, wow.

Since the V8 drastically drags down the CAFE numbers - good luck.
Since the V8 also would require all sorts of new crash testing/safety testing and compliance, reports and studies sent to the EPA and more - it would be an expensive bit for Jeep to put a V8 in a JT.
Does FCA have the resources and is there truly enough drive from the public?
in forums, yeah - but that isn't what drives any auto company.

Desired if you read and go by forum posts - not as desired in the general public, however.
Emissions complaint V8 crate - that would be a way to go.
But they must meet CAFE numbers - and since we have people bitching about what they must do to comply with current regs to keep the JT even available at all, hmmmm
My bet is against a V8 Gladiator soon.
Could happen, sure, but I'm not going to bet that it does. Too many reasons for it to not happen.
Look at the costs of the V8 JLU and tell me you'd pay for that - and love the 13 mpg and be willing to help FCA pay the EPA fines for not meeting fleet numbers.

having participated in some market studies for Jeep in the last couple of years - it's interesting to note that there wasn't a single mention of engine options.

Not sure if the EPA will enforce anything going forward. Many of these manufractors have already be told they can build i believe. I dont think the new EPA will enforce anything

The "new EPA" is only very temporary...... be careful of what you read.
Hoping doesn't make things so. There are still many other economic factors, manufacturing capability, design changes, crash testing and more. If they so much as change the location of a fan or how air flows through or around a vehicle, it's a new report. So far we've not seen the rules go away or not be enforced and that bit about ESS - hmmm, no more talk, and I suspect it was all talk.
NHTSA isn't going to let them off the hook.
Cooling will be a factor, tow and payload ratings, I'd bet the current differentials in use won't hold up (that double-row ball bearing bit is already problematic with a V6)
Hope and wish all you want - so far, it's all 100% speculation, there's been no one that really knows anything step forward with anything real. All internet chatter (with no sources)

Yes, it could happen, but it's not simple and cheap. And people bitch their silly heads off about a 60 to 70K Jeep as it is, can't wait for the talk when the MSRP of a V8 JT is revealed!

I'm curious as to how many people really need the inefficient and marginal power of a V8 just to drive to Bass Pro and back.

Jeeps have been climbing and slogging through shit since day one with mediocre engines.
The 4xe will have power close to a V8. The bottom-end torque is crazy. They walk right over things.

Funny the amount of "Gatekeeping" that goes on around here when this topic comes up. Like people's sensibilities get offended if they should ever whisper the notion a HEMI V8 coming to the JT.

I want a V8 Gladiator. Do I need it, nope. Would it be even more fun to drive, yep. I’m not really that worried about the gas mileage. If I was I wouldn’t have 37’s on my Gladiator being turned by anemic V6. No one would if they were worried about efficiency and fuel mileage.
I will say this…I will not pay 80-105k for a Gladiator, nor for a 392 Wrangler. If they put a V8 in the Gladiator then make it a smaller upcharge, say 8-12k like a full size diesel truck. That is a lot easier to swallow than 25-35k more. Just my humble opinion. As it is, it is cheaper to have an aftermarket shop do the swap.
