In my mailbox was the annual lottery card from our provincial cancer drive and one of the prizes in the automobile winnings is a Gladiator Sport worth over $76k cad. !!!? I remember back in 2021 when I was test driving the 3.6 gladiator Rubicon and the 3.0 diesel, the diesel model was $76k cad!

Would you take the $65k cad cash or the Sport Gladiator if you won?

If you want a JT, take the JT. If you want the cash, take the cash. I have a JT. If I won one or an option for the cash, I'd take the cash.

Tariff talk will get you in trouble here.

Thanks, removed it.
I havent been back to the dealership or tried building one in years and was shocked to see the sport that high. The cash amount to take is what the 3.6 rubicon was worth in 21.

Cash.
In the US you have to pay taxes on the winnings. If you take the cash it will help pay the taxes and with what's left you can do whatever you want to your Rubi for a lot less.
When I used to fish big money bass tournaments a number of guys who won boats would sell them for the cash.

Since your profile is that you've already got the 2021 Rubicon, I'd take the cash. Either one is tax free so that's not a concern, so the only real questions are (1) do you want to sidegrade your 2021 Rubicon to a newer lower trim 2025 Sport, or (2) Do you think you can resell it for more than $65k.

Given I'd rather keep the existing one, which presumably you like and have some memories with, and selling the replacement would be a total hassle, just take the cash and put it to upgrades/fun.

In the event I hadn't been able to buy one and still wanted one, I'd take the car.

That must be a Canadian thing............. winnings are taxed here, gambling winnings, that car you won on Wheel of Misfortune, whatever.

The only sport I had was my previous truck being the 17 TRD Sport. In the 3 years I had it, I put $11k cad in upgrades and was getting ready to install lockers etc to it …then an elk had to run out and hit me on the highway.
Totalled it and made the decision to go into the JTR I have now.

Yes, tons of memories, good, bad and super ugly but I use every part and abilities this truck has and can’t even imagine starting over with a Sport. The wife and I couldn’t start over with all the upgrades so we shot for the ceiling with this one.

Id take the cash. It would kick start a new life of off grid trailering.

I think I would take a trip to see the 48. Maine is the only State I'm missing. But I'd like to do something like that other group did with a few Gladiators. $65k would be about right for a three month trip.

I have a JT Rubicon, so I'd take the cash. If I take the truck I have to pay the tax on it to register it out of my pocket at least with the cash I could pay the tax out of the winnings.

Plus, that amount of cash could pretty much pay off my student loans.

I paid mine off 45 years ago. Small as they were, it took some working long hours. Otherwise, parents couldn't kick in a dime at the time, and there weren't the freebies there are now, it was all working long hours after class and on weekends to pay for it all.
