I still stand by my earlier statement that if I can purchase a Max Tow at 45k with the 3.6, I should be able to purchase the 5.7 for 5k or less as an upgrade ... something short of or at least very close to 50k.

I got 12mpg on E85 in mine with a smaller pulley, port blower and other power mods, just depends on how hard you press the skinny pedal. My point is you can get more truck and more horsepower for less money. Plain and simple. The AMW4x4/ DRC deal isn't a good value at its current price point and that is something Jeep will also have to consider with their Hemi pricing since Ram is starting production of the TRX again. The Wrangler 392 is special, the Wrangler itself is a niche vehicle, iconic, cult following, etc. While yes the Gladiator is also a niche vehicle, its not as iconic nor does it have the same cult following. I do prefer my Gladiator over my TRX but if we are talking adding a V8, the value will have to be there otherwise there are better deals out there.

nice looking truck! for me it's took big to drive and park. for others it's perfect. I like the size of the gladiator better. also I rather get a 505 hp engine from AMW with better transmission tune than the 470 version from jeep. I know you can tune the jeep 392 engine amd transmission, but you lose your warranty. at least AMW will back up thier tune and transmission tune when you buy from them and they install it....

Thanks! The TRX was a blast and I hear you, that is why I ended up with my Gladiator. The TRX was over 90 inches wide front and back, turning and visibility sucked. The Gladiator is the perfect size to me as well. The 505HP AMW swap is tempting for sure, I just have a hard time spending $40k for what you get. Same kind of thinking on why I went from the TRX to the Gladiator vs the 392 Wrangler, the juice wasn't worth the squeeze for what you get. I have been very interested in a V8 Gladiator since I got mine but if they price it along the same lines as a conversion or the 392 Wrangler then again I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze compared to what else you can get on the market. Just my opinion though!

But not all the install work etc. there is a reason amw charges 30k and it's not the actual engine and parts cost but all the install and R&D work that went in to it.
Winner winner chicken dinner.

AMW puts a ton into the R&D, plus much of their stuff comes from OEM Tier 1 suppliers, too. Their conversions look and perform at the highest levels. And from what I've seen, they are put together better than what rolled off the line in Toledo. Sort of like AEV- Tier 1 status comes with a cost.

Totally agree with you on the value proposition when comparing against a TRX or even a Raptor….but then again us Jeep folks are some kind of special when it comes to spending money on our Jeeps. I feel that Stellantis banks on this behavior when pricing stuff out.

R&D costs are going to be there regardless. You must make them back in some way.
Develop, build and sell a niche vehicle, you have to make it up on each sold.
Develop, build and sell a vehicle that appeals to a broader swatch of the world you make it up on volume.

I worked for a company that did build and sell a product that could be used across a far segment of manufacturing and petrol industries, but because the bulk of the work was custom programming and engineering, a $150,000 product often had to sell for $1,000,000 to the individual customer. There wasn't the volume to make up all of the costs involved.

The last V8 I owned was a Hemi Magnum. I loved the car and motor, but I was replacing inner/outer tie rods and UCAs at 50k miles, and a steering rack at 72k miles. QC was garbage.

An affordable 5.7L Hemi Gladiator would be interesting, but I would rather have a workhorse inline six than a V8. And I would buy a BEV/PHEV Gladiator before I bought a Hurricane 3.0L V6.

Excuse me for my ignorance on the matter, but I was under the impression that the Hurricane was a very good motor, at least ones from the past. Is that just dreaming about how good things were then or is it just the name that is a carry-over to something that no longer exists?

5.7 for $70k over a 6.4 for 100k
who said there'd be that price spread? Why would there be 30K for one over the other? Once it's a V8, it's a V8.

I bought it because it rode nicer than the Wrangler lol.
I bought mine (3 times now) because it was a SMALL truck and with the reliability of a Jeep, abilities of a Jeep, 3rd party products, the ability to plow snow in a small area due to the short and narrow wheelbase and I really missed our 90 Camaro T-top.
I bought my JT because of it's solid front axle in a world of IFS.
Also because I never bought a Scrambler or Commanche and wished that I had.
& a retirement gift to myself.

I bought mine 100% because of THE PRICE. Almost 30% off MSRP hooked me. There is not a snowball's chance in hell I'd buy a $100k Gladiator, or even anything approaching such lunacy. Heck, I probably wouldn't buy another because I'd probably never get this deal again.

The original straight 6 hurricane was used in the 60's model J200 Gladiators .
Its a carry over name . It was about 260ci if I remember correctly . The hurricane of today is a totally different animal. Oh wait it does have 6 cylinders.

for me i have over 20K in mods on my truck. i looked into getting a 392 wrangler and they wanted to just give me 29K trade in! if your looking for a stock truck from factory and you don't plan on modding it, then get the 392 gladiator when it comes out. I mod my vehicles, so if i were to wait, by the time i get the truck and mod it the truck would be $125K! just the sales tax on a 100K truck would be 7K.

that's why Im keeping my modded truck getting the AMW 505. its cheaper that route (In my personal scenario)

I'm trying to summarize this thread, tell me where I went wrong:

1.) 392 is not actually confirmed.
2.) 5.7 is mentioned, but not actually confirmed.
3.) Zero indication of an actual release date for anything.
4.) Leaf springs suck.
5.) No indication of price for anything either.
6.) Development and testing would still need to be done if anything comes to fruition.
7.) Hurricane is bad?
