New jeep. Mpg / gearing questions

Ok. I just bought a 22’ rubicon. It’s been re geared to 5.13. On 37’s.
im currently avg. 13mpg.

my other gladiator is a 20’ sport.
2” mopar. Running on 37’s. Gets. 16 mpg.

rubi has Toyo mt. Sport Patagonia mt.
Both have black rhino 17” wheels.
Both have bed racks.

question is why am I getting better mpg on 3.73. & what can I do.?
looking at gear chart. Would I get better if go to a 40”. Seems counter productive. But. Great excuse to get 40’s.
these are work trucks / daily drivers.
& yes. I know. Not best vehicle set up for work / daily drivers. To be worried about. Mpg. It’s about the look for company
I’m ok with the 15-16. Just not sure why getting less with new one.

I looked up wheels & the new trucks wheels. Weigh 10 lbs lighter than other

37- toyos. 84lbs
37 - pats. 74 lbs.
40. Pats. 88 lbs

so I guess I’m asking will bigger tire or lighter tire. Help with mpg more?

1) 5.13s are going to net you higher rpm at cruising speeds which will negatively affect mpgs.
2) the roof rack, heavy steel bumper, and stuff on the bed all contribute to mpg loss.

Are both calibrated with the correct tire size and gearing? Incorrect info will give false readings.

Yes sir. The old one was calibrated by dealership when they did the lift & tires.
this new one has a tazer connected. & it’s set up.

Aftermarket fenders are killing what little aero you have with the sport? I'm guessing the sport stays in 6th or 7th most of the time?

I didn’t pay much attention to the sport when I drove it. Cause I knew with big tires and stock gears. Is what is. And getting 16 mpg. Wasn’t that concerned. It always drove fine. & would hit 8. On hwy for sure.

You're in Texas, so I assume you see 75-80 on the daily. That and the little stubby fenders are probably killing your mileage.

I have 5.13s and 37s (and a 6spd) and just did a 175 mile round trip this morning. 15.9mpg
I don't think 16 is out of your reach, may just take a minute to figure out what's killing yours.

My last trip to Texas, I had a 25mph headwind the entire way. Got 12mpg, the return trip with a 25mph tailwind netted me 20. Avg speed on cruise control was 75.

I’ll be perfectly good to get to 16.
I don’t do a lot of hwy driving. It’s a plumbing truck. So just all around the local town.

Honestly, if I'm nice to it, I get better mileage around town than I do on the highway, and aero is less of a factor.

How heavy are your wheels?

pretty good, I only get 3mpg going 175mph in my Bugatti Veyron
