Be honest — who else bought a Gladiator and said ‘I’ll keep it stock’… then immediately ordered parts? 😂

Define 'stock' 😄 My truck is three years old now and no plans to go more extreme than this. Level kit in front and stock 33" wheels and tires from a Rubicon. Does what I need it to do. Also front discos, winch in plastic bumper and a bed cover. The rock rails are 'stock' from a Rubi and the bed rocker rails are same style as stock 🤣

Well, I kept the stock Drivetrain. Added a winch and a bed cap but that's it. Can't do a lift due to the vertically challenged in my house, stock ride height is bad enough for her. I added Auxiliary switches the look somewhat stock.

When it comes to trails, I don't ask myself "if I can make it?" I ask myself " can I go another way?" You wouldn't believe how quiet it can be in the truck, when you take the easy path. The loud high pitch squeal, coming from the right side only shows up at challenging moments.

If a person intends to modify a Gladiator
wouldn't it make more sense
to start out with a used Sport
so you don't pay twice for larger tires
and so forth?

Of course you would not have
a quick disconnect sway bar
and locking differentials
but how often does one need those
when visiting Starbucks?

I went the other way.
Bought a used Rubicon
removed the moderate front lift
and traded the 35s on Fusion wheels
for OEM wheels on a new Rubicon Gladiator.

Prior to that my accessories amounted to
fender flare extensions
and huge front RokBlokz mudflaps
after getting cow poop in my ear.
I kept them even after losing the wide tires.

Lately, I did replace the rock sliders
with old man running boards and steps.

Oh, and I did add a crossover truck box
from Tractor Supply
in the bed to store recovery gear.

Oh, oh. I added an M.O.R.E. dead pedal.
Love it.

I swore I was gonna just drive it as-is for a while… Fast-forward 2 weeks: lift kit, tires, lights, and my wallet’s in ICU 😅
Let’s see how long y’all lasted before the mod bug bit
I kept all suspension stock, All I added was a 1 inch leveling kit in the front, 295's with steelies, a year later very happy with the ride and look, I learned my lesson well from my JK suspension nightmares

That depends on how high those concrete parking blocks are at Starbucks. Or maybe if you decide to park in the Starbucks lobby, you may need assistance getting back out. Locking diffs would come in handy.

I got it all the way home before the mods started. They have not stopped yet. The last mod will be a 4 sale sign.

In 2020 bought the Willys for my wife and did not plan on any upgrades.
After taking her jeep off road for the first time I decided that some mods where needed.
One time off road my wife was complaining that I would hurt her jeep so I decided she needs her own jeep and the Willys will be mine.
She now has her own stock Rubicon and the Willys is highly modified and we now have a trailer and f250 to pull it.
Last March we spent 35 days traveling to Vegas, Sand Hollow and Moab's Easter Jeep Safari.
Never thought I would take it this far.

Not once did I say that.

Went into the purchase with a plan, have adhered to the plan, am happy with the results.

Always amazes me when people seem to blindly or whimsically make the second largest financial decision of their lives, then ask if they made the right one, or question themselves, or have regrets.

Took us 6 months to settle on a vehicle and two weeks to choose a option package.

Only a tonneau cover and bed rug for the sake of usability. Hoping to find some take-off OEM metal bumpers or 392 wheels on marketplace one of these days when some random clout-chaser replaces those parts with shittier aftermarket ones.

I waited 2.5yrs. Before doing any upgrades .
1. Main motivations shocks and front springs wore out .
2. Having to be pulled out with dozer after entire truck was high centered .
Then I knew it was time to move upward and onward.
Terrain dictated my moves more than anything.
