Spotted this the other day at the Big Orange Box Store so maybe there are some "work" versions...

Buddy of mine uses his for work, it's just not work trucked out 😆

It drags an enclosed trailer to job sites every day, then wheels the Rubicon trail on occasion 😄

That's a good question. I know that Ford would ship the Ranger without a bed. The dealership had a hard time selling it without a bed, so they had one put on.

I had my 'dream' bed doodled out for a Gladiator. It would basically be a small utility bed with a compartment about 18" high and as long as from the back of the cab to the back of the back tires, then a tall narrow cabinet from the bottom of the back bumper up to the top of the 18" compartment. It would be wider than a factory bed so no need for fender flares - just do a small tire cover down the front of the bed where the front of the back tire would be exposed. Center bed width would be 49", enough to lay a sheet of plywood flat with no obstructions.

Thought about getting an engineer I know to design it, but I was like heck I can't afford to have this built anyway 😆

Good point. It would be nice to have a customized bed for the Gladiator, but it would be costly.

It's probably wishful thinking, but I would love Jeep or Ram to offer the Gladiator/Dakota in a regular cab.

Ram offered a regular cab with the EcoDiesel from 2014 - 2019. I've seen several of those regular cabs with various styles of flatbeds. Even the flatbed pictured below would be nice.

I don't think I could live with a single cab for many more years (the step kids would need to just about out the house at the very least) but I sure do like them. I grew up loving single / extended cab trucks.

I saw a new body Nissan Frontier listed for sale. It was extended cab 6' bed with chonky tires and a front level - and it brought back all those teenage memories of the trucks I loved 😆

We don't have human kids, but my wife doesn't like regular cabs due to the dogs. We were not able to have kids, so as you can imagine, our dogs have become our kids. Keep in mind, our dogs (pictured below) are not big dogs, but they have a nice big bed in the backseat if they want a place to sleep. So, if I were to get a regular cab, it would need to be a designated work truck in which hauling human passengers or dogs isn't a priority.

I owned a 1993 GMC Sierra regular cab when we first started dating. Courtesy of the bench seat, my wife sat next to me. So yes, I do miss the days of the regular cab and the nostalgia that came with it.

I must confess, I keep a cooler, tools, and a few other things in the backseat area of my current work truck. So, I would need to relocate those things to the truck bed if I had a regular cab. My current work truck is a 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, quad cab, 6' 4" bed.

The projected unit cost of the MO Kestrel is pretty high. Hopefully they can make a more reasonably priced version. A GVW increase seems very reasonable. A collaborative MO/AEV Kestrel in J370 spec... complete with 4.88 gears would fit the bill.

I was wondering if they could make a newer version of this
