On this special day, as we honor the contributions and sacrifices of our veterans, let’s take a moment to dive into a fun yet meaningful discussion: If you could choose a different truck besides the one you currently own, which one would it be?

Whether it's for its rugged durability, off-road capability, or simply its iconic style, trucks have always been a symbol of strength and resilience—values deeply tied to the spirit of our veterans. So, let’s hear it: Which truck would you pick and why?

And for those who aren’t veterans, we’d still love to hear your opinions—every perspective is welcome!

Let’s celebrate this day together by honoring our veterans and sharing our passion for trucks!

My GMC Canyon was actually better at everything than my Gladiator, and cost less, but I actually like my gladiator better. X factor. So if I was making a more practical decision, I would have kept it or bought the new model. Mine was a 2017 All Terrain.

I owned 2 Colorados before I finally found a 2024 Gladiator marked down a sizable $15,000 off MSRP. See back in 2016, we had a 2011 Silverado Z71 ext cab we bought new, that at 5 years 6 months of trouble free ownership we decided to downsize into a new Colorado and bought the same thing, an ext cab Z71 4x4, V6. Then we both retired to Florida and down to one vehicle and the ext cab wasn’t cutting it. So then in 2019 the new Gladiator came out, but expensive! A rag top manual with roll u windows IF you could find it was $10k more than a Z71 Colorado Crew Cab V6, so we bought that. Both totally trouble free and towed our 5,600 lbs travel trailer effortlessly. So that’s what we traded in for the 2024 Sport S we have now for over a year and 17,000 miles. Relatively trouble free other than the dreaded death wobble at 14,000 miles. But the dealer replaced the leaky steering damper and did a front end alignment with caster adjustment into specs and better that ever. The steering will never compare with the IFS Rack & Pinion in the Colorado, but now there’s no slack with steering wheel dead center and returning to. So if not a Gladiator it would probably be a new Colorado. That ironically has reached the same price for a two speed transfer 4x4! Oh you can still get a WT, or LT, but they only come with the auto one speed 4x4 transf.

A single speed transfer case in a 4x4 truck is crazy work. I have shopped Colorado's before but never knew that tidbit.

If I was buying a new midsize truck, I'd probably shop the Z71 Colorado hard. I really like them (from seeing them in passing and watching a few videos).

But I am leaning full size if I ever get another truck, and I'm a little torn there.

The F150 SXT (2.7 Turbo)
The Silverado 1500 WT (5.3L V8)
The Ram 1500 (5.7L)

All have various things I really like about them. The F150 being the best looking, the Silverado because I had so many Chevrolets in the past, and the Ram because I like the interiors in those and love the ZF 8 speed...

Is this a trick question??

I've owned 2015 cheverolet 1500 with 5.3, at 230 mile it started bending push rods from the v4 to v8 afm. Spent 6 out the 8 months of owning it in shop, kept bending pushrods. 2016 f150 5.0, rod shot and damaged the block and somehow bent the bell housing.... So it died. 2017 f150 3.5 ecoboost, great puller but constant cooling issues and boost issues. 2019 f150 5.0 10speed, had transmission issues and was on list 9 months out to have transmission looked at other than over the air updates. Last update they did was driving 55mph on a two lane, went from 9th to 1st and popped the motor and locked me up heading for a frontal collision with semi. Semi had room to get over and saved me. Ford gave me all my money back and money I spent on lift kit. Did research and found 22 gladiator rubi diesel had an actual zf transmission and they brought the guys from navistar who built the 7.3 powerstoke in, they replaced 37 parts from the previous generation. Only problem was a glow plug went out last week in 3 years of ownership.

Yea it’s true. You can only get a 2 speed transfer in TrailBoss, Z71, or ZR2. The lowest price being the TrailBoss at $41,995. Kinda like a Willys. But halogen lights.

A fitting end for a Ford.

If we talking midsize world i would not pick any other truck then the Gladiator. Gun to my head it would be Nissan Titan. Qaurtermster if it wasn't priced crazy would be the ultimate choice.. The rest of the midsizes i just find to be highly overated (Tacoma) and borring(Ford) as hell. Nothing exists in the world like the Gladiators. Just makes me happy lol

For Halfton and HD worlds would be Ram and Ram again!! Diesel. I will be happy with a V6 Etorque Ram or 5.7 Hemi. Easy to work on maintenance wise and have a long list of aftermarket support.

I'm seeing a lot of these popping up around town, but starting at $100k they're just soccer mom toys for the G wagon crowd.
Some of aussie guys really put these things to work. Your right about the G wagon crowd lol Perfect
