Not totally out of the realm of possibilities. I seem to recall the 3.6 in the JKU having documented casting sand issues (2012 and 2013 I think).

That looks very specific to one engine type though.
Yes, and one location, one engine, and one process.
The 3.6 is a die cast block.

They are talking about the 2.0 made for the 4xe in a different location, different line, different processes.

That was the original 3.6, years ago, different plants, different designs.

But people of course want an explanation for the 3.6 UPGRADE engine cam issues - still looking, and will try to make things fit (right or wrong)

The 4xe's 2.0 block is cast at the Kokomo Casting Plant in Kokomo, Indiana.

The Jeep 3.6L engine block is high-pressure die-cast and is manufactured in Trenton, Michigan, and the Saltillo South Engine Plant in Mexico.

I don't see anything carrying over...........
