My question is, is it really the transfer case? I had a come and go vibration problem on a CUCV I had and it turned out that the drive shaft was too short. If the shaft doesn't have a good bite on the slip yoke it will shake the whole truck.

Mine was/is more of a philosophical 'Q' / :ontheloo: thought . I do very much happen to agree with your obvious insight .
My "frustration" comes with the knowledge that many, if not all (so far) issues can be related to the JL (& found over their too) . It's when the "new ones" (truck related parts) for the JT start to rear an ugly head; . . . that too will "annoy me" I'm sure . But will it "prevent" me from wanting one ? I Doubt it . . . ONLY thing to prevent that will be health related, but that's another story (tone left alone) . ps; hey go back and give me a "like" - I'll never catch up to Stephen707 at this rate !
:(  :) .
Nobody's going to catch @steffen707

In addition to that the harmonics between the rotating front and rear drive shafts can create a oscillating hum. The frequency and amplitude would depend on the situation. [Banned Site] youtube channel has a video where he diagnosed a drive shaft imbalance by removing each shaft and driving up to speed.

EDIT: Interesting on the banned site thing. Is there a list or repository of youtube channels that are banned and what they did to earn the ban? I only ask because I wouldn't want to forward someone on to a resource that is known to be problematic - I just watch whatever shows up in the youtube feed and seems to be interesting/informative.

Well the transfer case has been replaced and the issue is worse. Back to scratch, everything has been extensively tested and checked. The technician, a very qualified one I might add. I'm very fortunate to be lucky enough to have him isn't giving up, but he is also very frustrated. The vibration comes in the jeep when ever it hits a bump in the road, it sounds like the front diff is trying to engage and then pops back out on the next bump. The noise is now much louder, metal grinding but goes away if you shift into 4 high or hit the brakes hard. Perhaps someone can give me a call to discuss further.

Some of the early production 2019 Silverado and Sierra 1500 have a metallic “jingle jingle” due to the CV axles not fitting properly and having too much space. The noise goes away in 4wd. Crawl under and pull on axles, they shouldn’t have play.

Hi EdWilson,
I do apologize that you are continuing to experience this. I did not realize when I sent my first response that you are located in Canada. Our team is only authorized to assist customers within the United States. I have included a link below with the information for Canadian Customer Care. I apologize for the confusion!

I think your on the right track, FCA are sending all new for that side including a new side axle. They are working to get it resolved and have supplied a rental truck truck now so I guess I'm hopeful it will be all fixed this time next week.

Yes the technician found play in the side axle. Engineering wanted videos and so forth before ordering new parts. Thanks for the input.

you bet brother, easy fix once they get the right one in there. For some reason there was a bad batch for the GMs as all the axles are outsourced, same with Jeep. So can't blame GM or FCA. Drove a Sport S Max tow yesterday and it was a completely different highway ride that one of of the early JTs I drove, it barely wandered and I could easily steer with one hand. Very pleased and the JT is back on the radar, just waiting on granite. Ironically, the tire pressure was 41 cold on both JTs. I wonder if something as simple as loose CV axle/weak stabilizer and if they sourced a better stabilizer on the one I drove. In fact, it was so different that I would have thought the person who said (me,lol) the JT wanders doesn't know what in the hell they are talking about.

This is the same story with the JLs even 2019 models. Some handle fine, some not. Seems to be a combination of issues which is even more frustrating for owners.
