What does your Jeep get? My Mojave doesn't average anywhere near 280 unless all freeway. If I am on trails it's FAR lower than 250.

Someone will pull out some anecdote " I saw where a battery failed in 1 year!" and ignore the thousands of 10 year old Teslas with 250k miles on them and 90% original range. Meanwhile, most EV's have 8 year/100k propulsion battery warranties so all this fuss is BS.

It's always those with the least experience that share completely inaccurate information that fits their preconceived ideas. No i don't think they are saving the planet, but to try and pretend they are worse than the millions of ice vehicles is foolish. To argue efficiency while being an ICE fan shows a complete lack of understanding of energy use. Our Jeeps need 700kWh to match the range of the recon on 100kWh battery. It's far from the most efficient EV but shits all over any ICE vehicle in that regard. An ICE engine literally burns more fuel creating heat than it does creating motion. Put a solid state 700kWh battery in the recon and it will weigh about the same as the 100kWh battery and have a 1,750 mile range. Unfortunately the solid state batteries aren't ready for market but it's coming. Not that I think they'll actually put packs that big in vehicles because it would make more sense to put a similar capacity battery that weighs 1/10th as much and therefore increases the range by 50-100 miles just by weight reduction. We will probably see 200kWh solid state packs and 500+ mile ranges but I doubt they'll go much bigger.

Then the ol' argument... "tEh GriD CAnt HAndLe iT". Yes it can. When you buy an EV you remove your miles driven on gasoline and all of the refining energy your ICE vehicle was using. More energy demand is REMOVED from the grid when you stop driving ICE then added to it by charging the EV. Basic facts.

I ain't no tree hugger or snob, and I am keeping my gas Jeep, but EVs are awesome.

I LOVE trees…. But I’m also a realist. I know EVs are NOT saving the environment just as much as ICEs are not killing the planet. Both are BS argument for the low information voters.

Research FACTS and science and then run the pros and cons for your life. A spreadsheet with real numbers will tell you more truth than 1,000 fake media articles.

And BTW it irritates me to no end when I meet my daughter for lunch and we leave the restaurant and I get into my 200° cabin in my Gladiator and my daughter slides into her pre-cooled Tesla truck.

Show me the 100 mile trail in moab. Why would you need to wheel for 2 days instead of charging it in between trails? Those pesky facts again.

Thanks for the education. Looks like these charging stations make EV wheeling do-able
in Moab. Jeep also have their own off-road charging stations, in Moab and Big Bear (close to me).
With 1k miles of trails, I would have to consider the distance from charging stations to the trails.

Now this Recon is looking more interesting.

This is a good point. The range of the Recon and Gladiator is almost the same.

For myself, I'd have to consider the cost of charging (both at home and public) and
time to charge. But I'm sure it's a lot cheaper than buying gas. Where I live the least expensive
gas is $4.39/gal. The Gladiator gets 17 mpg with city driving.

I hope the Recon is on display at the LA Auto Show.

Well, what gets me with all these EV's is the conditions that the people who mine these lithium materials etc. Exist in ..its the next thing to squalor and the conditions of the mines etc are horrendously unsafe and unhealthy.
What happened to Jeep saying that EV battery technology had to come way up before getting back into the EV thing .
Seems like a lot of double talk. EV mandates are done ,toast ..

People always bench race their Teslas, but my real world experience is that my Challenger spanks the shit out of them regularly. (Haven't come across a Plaid yet). People forget about factors other than horsepower. Weight and traction being primary.
Electric cars increase range with "low rolling resistance" tires. AKA: No traction. They prevent tire spin with computer limiting.

This Recon has 650 horse, but it's over 3 tons.
That's a similar power to weight ratio of my 1965 family sedan.

What are your 1/4 ET and MPH in the Challenger?

EVs own launches, especially AWD ones. Unless a Challenger is on at least drag radials on a prepped surface, it ain't launching for shit

I've owned at least 10 V8 musclecars in my life, starting with a 1992 LX 5.0 in 1992 with an OG Vortech S-trim. Last V8 I owned was my GT500. Nothing launches like an EV. Once you experience it you sort of laugh at musclecars. No bench racing.... thousands of Youtube videos of every musclecar there is getting absolutely mogged by EVs.

It's all PtW ratio? EV torque is CONSTANT. No torque curve. No 'power band'. No shifting. Does your family sedan clock 3.5 to 60? Doubt.

Plaids? lol. High 8 second cars that can be daily driven in luxury. Any 8 second Challengers reliable to 300k daily driven miles? Street legal ICE cars still rule the road course.... but drag racing they're done. It is what it is. Who's panties are bunched.....
