And half typical MPG.
Not for the larger V8
Even the optimistic numbers on a JLU window sticker aren't much better than that.
EPA says 14 combined, reality in the forums and elsewhere suggests 12 mpg for a 392 V8

We talked about the V8 with our sales guy when talking a JLU for my wife. Even he suggested she'd not be happy with the mpg and few actually get the sticker numbers. He could have upsold.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 gets an EPA-estimated 13 MPG city, 17 MPG highway, and 14 MPG combined, thanks to its powerful 6.4L V8 HEMI engine, though real-world mileage often falls lower, sometimes into the low teens, especially with aggressive driving or larger off-road tires. Drivers report that enjoying the V8's sound and performance often results in figures closer to 10-12 MPG in mixed conditions.

The best part of going this route is they use the same vortec V3 for their 5.7L kits. You get 5.7L hp+ for $7k and if the 3.6L grenades it can be bolted on to the 5.7L when I swap out the 3.6L. Win win.

Don I think we are all interested in how this goes…I was talking with my wife just last night about the “possibility” of upgrading to a 5.7 and she surprisingly said go for it…it can’t be that much. Then I told her the price and she got very quiet!

So if the SC turns out to be a good choice I’ll probably be behind you. Are you doing the install yourself of having a shop do it? And how much is that expecting to cost?

Thanks.
I'll be doing it all myself.
I just don't trust someone else working on my trucks unless we have history.
I take my time and am very methodical. I will document it in my build thread as per usual with loads of photos.
Ripp told me they have completed manufacturing my parts and should ship this week.

I meant half typical MPG for all vehicles on the road.

@azmojave OKay at a stop it does downsgift for you but you have to remember to up shift from 1st or you will go straight to the rev limiter. That is according to the owners manual a no no and is said to damage the transmission.

Reminds me!

We went to Camaro Fest a couple years back and my friend was so annoyed that the closer we got to Kentucky, the harder it was to find 93 octane - and her car was cammed and tuned. She had to take it easier until we got into Bowling Green and she located some good gas for the track 😂

Mine being stock, I was like well she'll just pull timing. It'll be fine enough.
The difference between 93 and 91 is generally within adaptable margins for the ECU/ECM if you have a good tune.

In this case, I wonder if adding a bit more torque to the thing might keep it out of high valve lift mode a bit more - maybe? Interesting idea.

Perhaps.

My Camaro pulls like a mule at less than 3,000 RPM. I just pulled a dyno chart on a stock L99 and found out why. It makes 300 TQ to the tires at 2,700 RPM and carries that all the way to 5,000 RPM. I rarely have to run that car 'hard' because with the VVT on a V8 it makes ton of grunt at low RPM.

So, if the supercharger is adding a sufficient amount of air and fuel in low lift - then sure. I am not sure how much it is adding then, versus being set up to force more at high lift when the valves are open wider.

I say tune it for performance and run the heck out of it. Else... you'll always be wondering what you've left on the table. What's the worst thing that can happen? You pull the pack and stick in a new crate 3.6. It's all a drop in the bucket compared to the AMW fleecing. Plus, I think the AMW craze is going to be a snap shot in time. Learning to milk the 3.6 for all it's got is probably a good long game strategy. If you're capable of pulling a pack... then there's never really any worry; you can get back to baseline in a weekend and start over!

Double typical miles.
Maybe for you retired folk, I've already put 30k on my truck and I haven't even had it a year. I put 15-17k/yr just going to work.

Average for all is about 13-14K / year. So you go above average.
Even before retirement, it was just about that and seldom over.

12 isn't half the typical mpg even with a bone stock 3.6L JT if you actually drive freeway speeds. Might average 18-19 if you aren't remotely aggressive. Lift and big tires like many of us and it's 13-14 on the freeway at 80mph anyway so why not have 200 more hp.
