what does it mean when jeep has been in inspection............

for a week and a half?
Dealer called me last week, on the 9th, and said that my wife's JLU was in inspection. That was the first half of LAST week.
Then he called at the end of the week and said "final" inspection.
Today - he says it's still in final inspection.
The info he got last week as it was in inspection and the dealership should expect it to arrive on the 16th.
That makes sense as if it was in inspection say, around the 9th, they would finished up up, and when they ship, it takes 2 to 3 days to arrive. So if it was shipped on a week ago today, last Friday, it would have been here on the 16th.
His info has always been TO THE DAY perfectly timed. When he said "it will arrive xxx" it arrived that am.
But well over a week in inspection makes me wonder.
Build sheet was finished and in my hands on the 9th of this month (December)
You don't find a build sheet until it's built.

They get lost in the system sometimes and then suddenly are steps later, in transit, or just show up randomly at the dealership.

We're waiting for this one she ordered to arrive to see how it works out.
We didn't know you could not get the full time transfer case without the recon package so that was sort of sprung on us.
If my wife likes it and the power steps will take care of the extra height, we'll accept it.
If the extra 2.5" height is an issue, we won't. (and she'll have to keep her current one)

She has said "hey, we could swap tires"..
Yeah, I don't think I want 35s on 4.10 gears. The thing has to downshift just to make the hills here as it is. She had the cruise set at 70 coming back from my U of I hospital visit (she was driving my truck) and more than once it kicked down and wound up to 4,000 RPM - 35s would kill my JT
And then she'd be running 33s on 4.56 gears.

Lose-lose.

...... and then she'd have a lift with 33s.......... hmmm, might look a bit odd.

I hope the people that work on their web programming don't have anything to do with the computers in the plant.

Mine was in an unknown status for a while, it was in shipping/transport. Then suddenly it was at my dealership.

They track each and every step to the second they move from one area to the next.
Their system is either broken, or there's a major issue with this JLU build.
Here's the status screen from my 2022 JT Overland build in 2022 -
Once in build state - past frame build, and frame "shipping" to the line, it happens pretty fast.
Not days, but hours.

When I ordered my 23 Gladiator Rubicon in fall 23 they took their sweet time (months) and delivery took a month and a half. I honestly believe the dealers unsold inventory takes precedence over sold and they stick it on a carrier when there is an empty spot. Could never get an honest answer about delivery until it showed up at dealer. Ordered in fall 23 (I believe it was late September) and did not arrive until beginning of Feb 24, was supposed to be in transit from mid December. Cannot depend on anything they tell you about progress.

It probably ate a cam on first start-up.

But seriously - probably a system not updated properly.

I have a feeling it's partially due to holiday slow-down.
No window sticker indicates it's truly not finished - for 2 weeks

No unsold inventory here. And when an order is placed, it's placed as a "sold order" - a bird in the hand.
The factory taking the order doesn't know what's on the lot at dealerships. No one sits and says "hey, you have 2 on the lot so we're taking our time on this one", that just doesn't happen.

In the past, it was often due to parts shortages or lack of availability.

My own prior JTs came in one month after placing the order.
This is my wife's JLU, so of course, it's a slightly different animal, but..........
Once shipped, they arrive here on truck direct from Toledo. There's no train, no transfer anywhere, Toledo to Des Moines with only other dealer stops along the way sometimes.

Maybe the Final Inspector had to take a couple days off because they were sick? Union Christmas/Holiday party?

It's a tangled web of processes that the public doesn't need to see. The customer can't penetrate the bureaucracy.
