2x4s would get in the way of the knife, and frankly, using masonite as a straight edge worked great. Several shallow cuts got it.
I was thinking a big Bowie knife 😂,
Glad the masonite worked great always more than 1 way to skin that cat.
So did you end up with that dust proff seal.
I do truly like my 3W liner your right it fits well.
It cleans up easy to threw it out 4 days ago and sprayed it off then put some soap on it and scrubbed with long handled brush and rinsed and it looked like new .

I like the "SMARTLINER All Weather Custom Fit 5 ft Rugged Bed Mat Compatible with 2020-2025 Jeep Gladiator" mat better, it's thicker and heavier and doesn't move around, plus it fills in the corrugation of the bed and smooths things out and is easier on the knees for crawling around in it and is comfortable to sleep on.
I also have the smartliner. - it has a “beveled” edge that would likely prevent the interference experienced with the gap filler. I use a rubber entry mat as my gap filler. It’s long enough to act as tailgate protector, and folds over into the bed when the tailgate is closed. It is just short of being wide enough to cover the entire width of the tailgate.

I suppose if I post a review of the Tackform stuff I have it will turn into a "but mine is better" and "brand x does a better job"................

It's a review and commentary on how nice the mat is, the fit and finish, and how to make it work with the gap seal, sorry, it's not a debate on who's idea is better.

And people are over-reacting to the cutting done if you have a gap seal - it's a fucking 5 minute job with a straight edge and something below the mat to act like a backing. It's not a big deal! A straight edge and a sharp box cutter, a few careful cuts until the final cut goes through. It's EASY - it has to be if _I_ can do it with my tremor and such.
Please - a simple basic straight edge and a good blade in a box cutter. I drew a line to make sure the straight edge didn't shift and the results literally minutes later were straight.

I have caught crap on stamp groups, coin groups (one for amateurs has a real jerk that insisted people should use the internet and do research instead of asking questions - like we annoyed him - I quit that group after only an hour of that)

Maybe it's just time for a break from the internet.

I was thinking a big Bowie knife 😂,
If I remember later, boy I got a knife to post...

On topic: I need to get one of those doohickeys that go in the tailgate / bed gap.
