Dilemna on tires…

I’d look at the tread pattern that matches your actual driving more than the marketing label. For light trails and lots of pavement, a milder all-terrain usually rides quieter, costs less, and still looks the part. I had a similar setup and kept things simple after chatting with a heavy truck tire shop Montreal I’d used before, since they helped me think about how tread affects road feel even on lighter vehicles.

I’ve run a similar setup. For mostly street use with light dirt roads, I’d look at whichever option gives the best road manners and price. Some all‑terrains ride softer and stay quieter as they wear. Curious if you ended up choosing one, and how it’s been with the AEV lift?

AEV lift is being installed as I write this I’ve watched so many videos on tires my head is going to explode. Plus all the great people on this forum and other groups. Some say this tire, some say that tire. In the end it’s all going to come down to personal preference and what you need. Based on price and brand that I have experience with, I think I’m going with the Falken AT4W. Some say they aren’t as good as the AT3’s, I have no idea, I didn’t have the AT3’s so I won’t know the difference. But I have had Falkens on other vehicles, and also The Baja Boss’s which are great also……The Falkens are almost $80 cheaper a tire at Discount and that for me was the deciding factor.

We have at4w on the wife jl 4xe, they're great and I would not hesitate to buy another set. Balanced with almost no weight even on beadlocks and are very smooth and quiet.

They would definitely be my pick compared to bfgs which I have had 0 luck balancing with out needing crazy amounts of weight in the 37 and 39 sizes.

I've had the 35" Falkens on my Rubicon now for around 20,000 miles and love them. Liked the stock 33" Falkens and hated the BFGs, also had some Toyo RTs and these Falkens are the best out of all of them. Can't speak for snow yet though, haven't had any in TN since I put them on this summer. Yes, I drive the hell out of it...

Got it out in the snow/ice this weekend with the storm that moved through Nashville, zero problems whatsoever, spent most of the time in 2WD. Got a little hairy on the way in to work today, hit a slick spot at 50 on the interstate and got sideways real quick. Eased up on the throttle, threw it in to 4Hi and drove right out of it.

I've reviewed the Falken A/T, A/T3W, and A/T4W. The A/T3Ws went 75k miles on an F-250 diesel which amazed me. The A/T4W was showing the same great wear at the 20k mile review interval and the traction was just as amazing. I have no idea why people talk smack about the A/T4W. The ONLY changes Falken made were 3 ply sidewalls and a better warranty. Best tires on the market hands down.

With that being said my new Jeep came with BFG KO2s and we're in the middle of a fierce winter storm and they are doing great. Surprisingly good actually, because my prior experience with BFG tires in winter storms wasn't positive. I've heard the factory version uses a different compound. That could be why they do so well in rain and snow at the expense of wear and tread life.

Bfgs do indeed have multiple compounds, some are 3pmsf rated some aren't. The non winter rated wear like iron as they use a hard compound. The non-3pmsf are much better but also wear much faster.

Mine measured at 34-5/8” at 37psi. 37x12.5 R17x8.5 C load range

I'm still on stock Firestone MTs on my 21 Willys, they haven't gotten louder and they're almost half worn. I would NOT buy them again unless I couldn't afford what I really wanted at their customer service is garbage, and they don't have any techs on the phone (forget an installer) that can answer simple questions, like "how much psi should I run based on my load/load rating/vehicle?" they're clueless and ignorant. Call Mickey Thompson and they'll give you whatever specs you need.

Do the stock 32" MTs work in the snow, mostly...even for not being 3 peak rated. I have yet to air them down below what the temps naturally lower them to during winter, and they sit around 34-36psi all winter long. I went through 1'+ snow and off-roading the other day, need to post some pics.

Stock-ish. Front OEM Steel bumper with wings taken off, and a warn winch. When that picture was taken, I still had the stock suspension. I think these C load KO2’s are softer and probably slouch more than the higher load index, just a guess. It still measures circumference rev equivalent to 36.5 so there’s that.

Interesting. I am running 35 K02s C rated and measure 33.5 with a psi of 37 and that is with a full @Metalcloak underclock, front and rear bumpers and a Warn winch. Trying to see if I can fit in the garage with 37s.

Tell you what, once snowmaggeddon is done here in NJ (it’s freezing outside), I’ll take another measurement, I’m running 32psi so I wonder if I’m even lower than the previous measurement at 37psi. I’ll measure to the fender height too if that helps.

Hey I know you’re asking swoop but I’ll chime in, the 37ko2 rev per mile is very close to 36.5, so I’ll agree with you on squishy and smaller, at least for the C-load range

I used the same method as the posted picture i.e. level and tape measure.
