Neither does the 3.6. Gutless turd. But at least it’s been reliable for most of us.3.8 doesn't make enough power to kill itself.
Yeah. They really were. All kinds of room under that hood. I had one. 2008 JKU Rubicon 6 speed. Only when it was new so all warranty work. A lot of it unfortunately. I got a lemon, but all vehicles have lemons. I’ve seen a decent amount of Toyotas get lemon lawed. The 3.8L also had a reputation for being easy to work on . Alot of JK owners still out there wheelin' with a 3.8L. I know a guy in WV that has one that runs like a top.
I drove a Toyota ( work truck) sounded like it had 16 little men inside pecking with hammers and chisels. ( even if I won a Toyota I would sell it .Junk in my book.Yeah. They really were. Recent issues aside, they’re a good manufacturer. I wasn’t trying to bash them. I used them as an example because they’re known for reliability.I drove a Toyota ( work truck) sounded like it had 16 little men inside pecking with hammers and chisels. They switched to a different 0W-40 for better availability. Probably cost too because GM is notoriously cheap to the point they constantly ruin good products being cheap and shooting themselves in the foot. All of you oil PhD's were absolutely certain that because of that, switching oil in your Pentastars was the right thing to do though.
Everyone gonna run out and switch again?
We have a 3.8L in a mini van and love it.Everyone says this, but I’ve had 4of them, jk’s, jl’s, and jt.
Over 450k between the 4 and never a trip to the shop, ever. 150 on 2, 120 on one, and 35 on my current one.
It hauls my ole ladies mini van down the highway at 90MPH in overdrive - so it's good enough3.8 doesn't make enough power to kill itself.
Yep. When I call my 3.6 a gutless turd, it’s trying to push a heavy and tall gladiator at high altitude. When I’ve driven it at sea level, it’s been a different Jeep.It hauls my ole ladies mini van down the highway at 90MPH in overdrive - so it's good enough![]()
My favorite word to describe it for me has been 'woefully adequate'.Yep. When I call my 3.6 a gutless turd, it’s trying to push a heavy and tall gladiator at high altitude. When I’ve driven it at sea level, it’s been a different Jeep.
