At my altitude, I’m getting well under 200hp with a 6,000+lb jeep. Gutless. But it just keeps going. ;)
Dan, You keep talking about "at my Altitude" but never say what that altitude is. What altitude do you live at and is it a gutless turd there? What altitude are you normally working at?

My brother had a home in Frisco [absolutely love that town] and then a ski in ski out home on Masters Drive in Copper Mountain. House at Copper was unbelievable and the skiing was great---but Frisco or Dillon was where we mainly went for good food and entertainment.

Sorry about that. Until 14 months ago we lived in Silverthorne. Since you’ve been there you know it’s right there with Dillon and frisco. That house was at 8,600’. Now we’re on the front side of the divide between Breckenridge and Denver, at 8,500’. So pretty much the same.

Yeah I imagine your correct, with it being NA it stands to reason that at some point as air begins to thin it will not run as strong. Thats why I said I can't attest to it running poorly or sluggish as I have never had mine above 4800
You're right. Supposedly, N/A motors lose something like 3% power for every 1000 feet of elevation over sea level. ie. @10k elevation they're roughly 30% less powerful than at sea-level. This is the biggest advantage of turbo/super-chargers. Elevation affects them much less.

That’s like both ZF and GM both when they first came out with their 8 speed autos. They had a new fluid every 6 mo before they finally got it right.
You may not recall the Jeep T5 transmission, then...............They changed fluid recommendations at least 4 times.

I certainly don’t. What was that tranny used in?

Jeeps in the 1980s. I have the T5 in my Eagle, same basic transmission. First it was use gear lube, no, that doesn't work in cold weather. Ok, use engine oil - nope, rough shifts, well, then, use ATF - hard shifting, bad for the synchronizers. So AMC came up with what we affectionately called fish oil for lube. Smelled bad, but even years after AMC was raped and pillaged by Chrysler,. Chrysler still referred to the AMC spec and lube number for manual transmissions in Jeeps.

Cool info. My limited 70’s-80’s jeep tranny information was limited to manuals.

The 3.6l earned its reputation of being a long lasting reliable engine. There are lots in fleets that aren’t even very well taken care of with 200k+ miles.
I've seen a few with over 400,000 miles and a few with over 500,000 miles, but I read about a 2014 Ram ProMaster van that had 626,000 miles on its Pentastar engine.

I could see stock bottom end, but it probably had some top end work? No?

I remember now. I have seen that before!
Let me guess the guy ran Napa oil in it with a cheap frame filter only changed the oil every 10,000 miles and was on the original air filter 😂😂😂

Usually how that goes! At the dealer auctions, I used to see the most neglected 4.8l and 5.3l GM fleet trucks at auction with 200k-300k on them and ran like sewing machines. You could barely even hear them idle. They were so trashed, but the engines ran great.

I have a theory it may be ...well it is simply a guess , but I swear engines that are ran often every day will tend to go lots longer than ones that sit for weeks between running sessions.
