Theres a star case regarding zip ties being too tight in some areas and causing breaks in the wiring. I'm not sure which spot was the culprit the first time. Theres also a potential issue with water getting into the FAD connector, which is what I suspect is happening because it only seems to be an issue when it's wet out. I'll probably dig into it myself, just need to find a lift to borrow because I'm sick of laying on concrete floors.
Oh yea I don't blame you for not wanting to do this work without a lift. But sounds like you’ve got a solid handle on it already and hopefully it ends up being something straight forward once you get in there!

the Gladiator Rubicon stock Fox shocks are absolute garbage. lasted less than 30k and teh deal couldn't get me repalcement for over a year and had to replace all 4 with the 'RED' Rubicon shocks now.

The Axle position sensor on the Rubicon wore out due to towing i think. The metal flecks making the fluid conductive shorts the sensor because its not potted.

Those stupid door limiters that go inside the door make a horrendous clicking sound that is not repairable to my knowledge.

Some were lucky to have shitty paint jobs the rusted through.

Leaky rear glass seal for the hard topped ones.

Broken door pin bolts (which they don't uses anymore)

Baby brakes

Aren't the shock pin bolts tapered on some years or the control arm bolts?
Sounds like you’ve been through just about everything on it… and you're not the first to mention the shocks are not great.

Not sure on the tapered bolt differences by year, perhaps someone who’s worked across a few model years can weigh in on.

I’ve had to super glue my Transit’s windshield 3 times to prevent running cracks. That windshield is HUGE!!!!!
Super gluing it multiple times is commitment 😅

Might be worth looking into some kind of protection for it — those bigger, more upright windshields really seem to take a beating.

Almost to 73,000 miles and 4 years. Been to Rausch Creek and Moab with it. The only thing that has broken or worn out is my windshield. That just broke on Easter Sunday.

true, i only know about the shock bolts because, after a year, I was was seriously committing to just giving up and buying my own shocks. Even the parts manager didn't know teh new part number. I got it from this forum and gave it to him. I think Benny gave me the part number.

My steering wheel has a little shimmy, not full on DW yet.

I still have to get teh paint fixed. That will be 6 weeks with out a vehicle, at least.

Its a jeep everyone will have a broken windsheild. HAHAHAHA

The other things are just annoying AF. The clicking and popping.

Boy if you don't tighten the top down really well that will pop and click too.

everyone complains about the rear license plate light blinding teh back up camera too

That’s a tough one, especially if it’s the same issue coming back.

At that point I’d be tempted to at least take a look myself first before going the dealership route. Do you know where the failure point was last time?
I only go to the deal if the work is free. If its getting F'd up it might as well be by me, for free and not overpaying the certified technician to do it at the dealer.

I didn't actually know they were blown, but they squeaked, creaked and rattled. That was enough for me to take it in.
Mine squeaked too. It took 5 dealer visits for them to even find it. I had to go on the test drive with the master mechanic. He heard it within 1 block. then it took 4 visits all with the deal having my jeep allday only to find out:
1. they didnt have thE shocks twice
2. they had the wrong shocks twice

I have a 45 min drive from my work to the dealer. Got off work, called the dealer, was put on hold by teh parts manger and drove all teh way to teh dealership, on hold, went into the dealership and he was just sitting there, he came up to me and i asked when he was coming back to the line because he had me on hold for 45 min. HAHAHAHAHA Teh look on his face was classic. what an a$$HOL3

That’s rough… especially having the back glass leak come back again.

And being on your third windshield definitely lines up with what a lot of owners are seeing on these.

At some point it just gets old dealing with replacements over and over. Some owners end up looking into windshield protection film options just to avoid the cycle.

That’s a solid run overall. Especially with trips like Rausch Creek and Moab.

And yes the windshield keeps coming up across the board. Sadly these are windshield chip magnets.

Are you trying to ride it out? Or looking to replace?

That’s frustrating, especially that early.

Definitely not something you’d expect before 20k. Did it cause any other issues when it went?

What’s something on your Gladiator that wore out or took a beating quicker than you thought?

Could be:
  • Tires
  • Suspension
  • Interior
  • Windshield
  • Anything else
Always interesting to hear what people didn’t expect.
Absolutely nothing. 2020 Gladiator Overland 112,000 miles
2nd set of tires - have stayed with original size 275-70R18 in Goodyear Wrangler ATA cause I love the 18-20 mpg gas mileage and still on original brakes and rotors just now getting close. Only repair to date is drivers side cam position sensor and an immaculate body scrape repair and taillight replace from a side-swipe at 18,000 miles. This is my fourth Jeep (Wrangler, Liberty, Grand Cherokee) since 1998 and favorite vehicle overall to date.
