They had a winch deal in late December for $399 on that winch but it’s over

As mentioned, the $599 is their everyday price. You may not see those large discounts until the end of the year (provided His Majesty doesn't add more tariffs) but there are periodically sales for 10% to 20% off.

As I posted on another thread here (and on the Wrangler Forum, I have both vehicles), when I went to Jeep Beach thing in Daytona Beach and the Speedway, I was surprised by the number of HF Apex 12000's even in the vendor area on their modified, lifted, and whatever things they were selling. Yes, a lot of Warns also, but after Warn and Badland, just a sprinkling here and there of all the other brands.

Many people have thoughts on Harbor Freight but almost everyone will agree their winches are some of the best in the business especially at their price point.

I'd still rather have a warn, but a badlands for 400 or a warn for twice the price is a no brainer and the badlands winches have proven themselves pretty darn good.

Not to argue your point, but where do you find a Warn 12000 at just double the price of a Badlands? Maybe three times more or even more than that, but I probably would have done a 12000 Warn at $900. (I paid $450 for my Badlands). Even at $900, that was about half the price of what I was seeing online for the Warn 12000 winches.

Was I looking at the wrong places?

Depends on the warn winch you want, but the vr evo 12s is 1k and at jeep beach it was 890. You can get the steel for 619 and the badlands which wrope for 129 though so about 750 for a vr evo 12 with synthetic

Wow, I didn't see the Warn VR 12000 with synthetic line for $900 at Jeep Beach but that would definitely be worth considering. But then, at double the price of the Badlands, it is worth it? Yes, I guess I would rather have Warn plate on my bumper, but you have to admit a lot of the vendors displaying their Jeep stuff did have Badlands mounted on their bumpers.

I think at those prices, either one is a good buy.

If I was gonna pay 600 for a badlands I'd probably do the vr for 750 with a badlands line, but a badlands for 399, I'll relocate the control box and just not show it's a harbor freight which 😂

Seriously though the hf winches have been good, just wish their warranty was better

Very true regarding the warranty. HF wanted $160 or something additional for a 2 year warranty when I bought mine. I said thanks but no thanks. That's like a third of the price of new one so when the day comes, I guess I just wait for one of the specials and buy a new one.

With the Warn, I know it's different. More long term thoughts. I didn't look at the Warn warranty when I was in the buying process, but another consideration with any warranty, as you know, is when you have a problem, what do you do with it. Can you just take it to a dealer? Do you have to pay for the shipping? (winches are heavy). Are there additional fees?

I would think Warn is really good on their warranties. I don't know and never really took the time to investigate. In my case, the good reviews on the Badlands and the price closed the deal for me. What name was on the badge made no difference. If the name was Warn, Badlands, Kelloggs, McDonalds or whoever I didn't give a rat's behind as long as it hopefully works when needed.

But, then, that's just me.
