Question for those that have used the Cerakote trim restorer. I see this comes in either a spray or applicator pads with the coating on them. For those who have used this product, can you tell me which product would be the best and would last the longest. I know that I have purchased pads in the past from other companies and sometimes the pad is just lacking the product or even dried out some, so I am looking for the best bang for the buck. Any reviews would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought the applicator pads the last couple times.

They worked fine / have plenty of product on them as far as I was concerned.

I did have one dry out and turn brittle but I believe that particular pouch was torn.

I’ve used the pads as well. Gives you way more control than the spray does. Really don’t want to get that stuff onto paint that much. If it gets down into cracks and crevices between the trim and body panels, as sprays inevitably do, I can see it doing some harm.

Was kind of thinking the same thing. Would not spray directly on the surface but rather spray a rag then rub it one. Maybe the pads are the way to go. Thanks

I used the pads on my cowl panel and a couple plastic bits on my smittybilt winch when my truck was fairly new. I did not do any other plastics on the truck.

Fast forward to today, 2 years after application, the cowl and winch pieces look noticeably better than the untreated plastics on the truck. I will be doing the remaining plastics very soon.

Not busy right now, so I snapped a few pics for you. Notice the cowl vs door handles. Door handle is untreated, still looks great, but the cowl is noticeably darker/blacker and has a bit more sheen than the other plastics. The cowl looks just like it did right after I applied the treatment about 2 years ago. If you zoom in on the cowl, you can see massive fading in corners where I missed during application.

Appreciate you taking the time to get some pics. Can definitely tell there is a difference. I don't have to worry about the cowl because it is new from where the dealer damaged it when working on my truck recently but I would love to work on other places. I will order it and work on this when I get back from vacation. Thanks again.

I’ve only used the applicator pads, but they work great and it actually lasts. Way better than anything else I’ve used. One piece of advice is on the stubborn parts like the cowl trim and door handles, you need to hit them with degreaser and scrub them first. Part of the problem is grime build up. My 2020 lives outside and has been a work truck for most of its life and only gets cleaned sporadically and detailed every few years. This was last spring after cerakote and obviously some paint correction.

I've used the pads on all the black plastic. Lasts about 8 to 9 months depending on how many times you wash it.
