This recall was the last little push I needed to throw the electric pump in the garbage. Been having issues with mine almost since new and have been "planning" on replacing it with PSC's Adventure Steering Kit
Ordered it yesterday.

If they would price that kit at $1,000 it'd be worth it. A replacement steering box is $500, so trying to sell a steering box with half a dozen $15 hoses, some brackets, and a power steering pump (maybe $150?) is highway robbery. Not to mention you also have to own a tazer to make it all work.

It is expensive but it is certainly more than just "some hoses, a steering gear, and the pump". It comes with proper mounting brackets for the pump, the cooler, the required serpentine belt, formed high pressure hoses/lines, a reservoir, a MUCH better steering box, and a much better pump.

It is probably 600.00 more than it should be, but I need a better solution. The factory steering sucks. Even when mine was stock it had problems after a little wheeling. With the bigger tires it has problems when daily driving and will stop working all together after some light wheeling.

The combination of my use case and the fires make it worth the 3K to me.

Post a review here once you get it installed.

Sorry if this has been asked, but what are dealers doing with their current used inventory of unsellable vehicles? I was in the business for 25 years and cannot recall a time when we had to sit on used inventory for 3-4 months. The book values change quite a bit over that time. I ask in part because around September or October is when I am hoping to purchase a used Gladiator, and I'm thinking between a 22-24 model, depending on price.

That’s a pretty all inclusive kit! This isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with the hydro-electric steering on one of these. Had to replace the one on a Durango a few years back. Hated it then, still not impressed with it now. I’d love to go with a more traditional steering setup. For pretty much complete steering that’s basically just take out the old and install the new that’s not a very bad price. They did all the heavy lifting for you.

Remember the Takata recall? Yeah, we still sold them even though they were "unsafe" to drive. At least for those we just had a safety waiver the customer had to sign before we could "deliver" the vehicle for them to take home, proving they understood the vehicle had a safety recall and could be "unsafe" to drive until fixed.

We also did NOT fix, nor were required to, prior to sale. Especially if we weren't an OEM dealer for that brand. Out of 15 or sold sold vehicles affected, I think it only stopped 1 of my sales.

I don't see why Jeep couldn't do this as well.

The non-OEM is, as I understand it, able to sell its product without hesitation. I generally try to buy from an OEM, prefer a one-owner, never wrecked, etc. In this case, with limited knowledge and research, Google AI said that a franchise dealer (I take that to mean any franchise store, regardless of its primary brand) is legally prohibited from selling one. I like and agree with your statement about having a waiver signed. But Google AI also suggested that some banks have or can refuse financing on a unit under this recall that has not been fixed. With the volume of manufacturer recalls currently and specifically for Jeep, I am just really surprised to hear there is a no-sale on these, if in fact that is true. Truth is always revealed over time, but this just caught me by surprise today.

I did not know this was available, I see they also offer a belt driven pump kit for use with the factory box.

On a positive note, does anyone know of a gladiator just catching fire? It seems like this would be the place to hear about it if it was super common. Oh, I know it is a concern or they wouldn’t perform the recall but I am not losing sleep over this. And I am retired so taking a vehicle in for recall work isn’t nearly an inconvenient as someone that has to juggle time off of work and/or child care. Even with two gladiators, it will all be alright. The pros still outweigh the cons!
Well said 👏

There were multiple thread links posted showing fires from gladiators that were sitting all the way to one burning down while being driven...

So while I dont technically "know" them, its been on my radar for years.
