I loved my 2017 F150 5.0, but the turbo six has WAY more torque. I’d still buy another Coyote because I don’t need the extra tq.Not really when it comes to gas trucks.
Most powerful Ram = V8
Most powerful F150 = V8
Most powerful Silverado = V8
There's a trend out there - more companies moving toward the I6 again. I wonder the reason. There's a few magazine articles about it, even mentioning who is doing what.It does depend on the V8. Yes you can take an old, outgoing V8 and get outperformed by a new turbo 6.
If you want the most powerful gas truck from Ram, Ford, or Chevy, it's going to be a V8. I don't think that means the V8s are getting trounced.
The supercharged 5.2L V8 has 640 ft/lbs.I loved my 2017 F150 5.0, but the turbo six has WAY more torque. I’d still buy another Coyote because I don’t need the extra tq.
Remind me if this happens someday and we can revist this. There's a trend out there - more companies moving toward the I6 again. I wonder the reason. There's a few magazine articles about it, even mentioning who is doing what.
Not now, not this year, but it's happening and in many ways, the I6 is winning - even in power and zip. You may have grunt power and nice sound with a V8, but the 6 is naturally balanced, smoother, and the next big thing.
When did they put that in an F150?The supercharged 5.2L V8 has 640 ft/lbs.
What is in the current F-150 Raptor R.When did they put that in an F150?
Yup - That's what makes some articles fun - how do they turn out?Remind me if this happens someday and we can revist this.![]()
It's coming, I know a guy.Sort of like this very thread - 1778 posts, over 100 pages, still no hemi JT
People also randomly pop in without reading a thing to say some version of, "well I think all they gotta do.... 5.7.... Easy peasy.... Blah blah blah..."At this point the forum is just keeping the thread alive as an ongoing "Told you so" referencing back to pages 1 and 2.
Assuming the next generation isn’t going to platform share with the new mini-Ram. A Hurricane 4 is way more likely than a Hemi at this point.the scheduled refresh is 28’ I think they’ll drop it in the next generation.
