The top of side bed rails are black on a grey truck, so is that part of the tonneau?Hey 5JeepsAz I also asked if this one had the trail rail system. Waiting for RTDNECO to advise as they had posted the original picture. I looked at a video and heard someone say that the trail rail system comes with 2 D rings plus 2 other tie downs. The build site does not mention the D rings or the tie downs as being part of the trail rail system. And if you look at what’s standard for each model it does not list these D rings or the tie downs. Not certain anymore. But I can tell you that it certainly does not look like any trail rails on the two sides of that bed. But it’s hard to see the sides very clearly. It’s also one of the few pictures I have seen of a bed without the sprayed in bed liner. Don’t know what the 2 small plugs could be for or what the other 2 larger plugs could be for. We haven’t been able to notice them in previous pictures of trucks with sprayed in bedliners since they were all black like the plugs are. I am as baffled as you are. Also wondering if this is a Sport or a Sport S or a Overland or a Rubicon.
The D-rings are standard. They swivel too.The top of side bed rails are black on a grey truck, so is that part of the tonneau?
I'm assuming that the D rings are standard. Should be.
I sure as f hope plastic tops on a pickup steel top side bed are NOT standard. I'm liking the bed without the liner even, just for the truck look. The D-rings are standard. They swivel too.
I was also wondering if the plastic (?) on top of the bed sides is standard or not.
There are a few pictures here:I sure as f hope plastic tops on a pickup steel top side bed are NOT standard. I'm liking the bed without the liner even, just for the truck look.
It's on the watch list... Fancy pants plastic on the easy to lean over sides; hole caps on only one side of the bed, and not enough sport and sport S pics...There are a few pictures here:
Looks like they're part of the tonneau.
edit: the red Gladiator in that group of pics has the cargo management package, no bedliner, no tonneau, but it has the plastic toppers. So... I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like the plastic caps. They will prevent scratching the paint on the bed rail when items are laying across or being stepped on.I sure as f hope plastic tops on a pickup steel top side bed are NOT standard. I'm liking the bed without the liner even, just for the truck look.
That is a great look!sweet, car and driver is testing it! Of course they would, i'm just excited to read their review.

I'm not against, just think it looks cooler without. And, from what I'm seeing, the box side top protection is standard, so I'll be rolling with it!I like the plastic caps. They will prevent scratching the paint on the bed rail when items are laying across or being stepped on.
Ok so my learning. I somehow thought factory tonneau required cargo system. But. This appears to be standard plastic bed rail top pieces, factory tonneau, no cargo system, no bedliner, and factory punch outs for wires in cabin side bed wall (this is where my exterior plug is going), punch outs for drainage or whatever in bed (unless these are not continued in production). All of which should be possible at any trim level. Huh. Okay!![]()
I do not think that this truck has the trail rail system. There’s no pictures of the right side where the power plug would go. But on the drivers side rail there is a catch thing there that looks like it’s for holding down the tonneau. It does not look like the rail tie downs that can slide on a track forward or backwards as part of that system. I have circled this in the attached picture.
Thanks Jake! Here's the video directly. I couldn't figure out what the holes were for either, but they will be good for accessory mounts.![]()

JeepnX4 just posted a fantastic video from the Chicago auto show. Suggest that everyone checks out that video. It’s in the video section. It’s got lots of close up pictures of the bed, lots of holes in the bed and I got no clue what they are all for. There’s also lots of close up pictures of the top sides and rails. There is definitely a trail rail system on the Gobi truck. But above that is another top rail that has some sort of clamps to the rear, one on each side. I assume that these are for a folding tonneau cover even though this one does not have a tonneau cover on it. Big thanks to JeepnX4.![]()
WATER DRAINAGE and or use for running 3rd part add-ons Electrical wiring . Think of Roll-up Tonneaus & Caps, for starters . . . + any other things . . .While I can't describe how the two colors are different,
Odd- why would there be two plugged mounting holes on the driver side, but not on the passenger?
