Sorry. The "I know!" was in enthusiastic agreement with you, not that I already knew that.
Absolutely... That is how I read it! Sorry if I reacted weirdly. I think we are all going to be back to good when this is over. The cool thing about that soon to be "new normal' is it arrives with a new JT!!!!!!

O.K., Imma simplify my stance, as I feel everything has gotten muddied:

"Marchionne said the Jeep pickup will be "expensive; intentionally so" because it is designed as a lifestyle truck that is likely to generate annual sales below 100,000 units. "I'm a natural buyer for that pickup truck, by the way," Marchionne said, adding the Jeep pickup won't compete with the midsize Ford Ranger or the Chevrolet Colorado on price, and won't be in dealerships until mid-2019." https://www.autonews.com/article/20...-be-net-cash-positive-by-june-marchionne-says
It is my opinion that most of us are reading too much into what he said. I work with Italian company executives in one of my businesses. The way the word things is a bit odd and does not always get their true meaning across. I interpret what he said as the JT will not compete with the entry level Ranger and Colorado. And the "intentionally so" comment I feel was not saying they were going to price it high because they could, but that its entry level price was going to expensive compared to the Ranger/Colorado types because of all the gear the JT will have.

If I just look at the parts that make up the JT compared to the JL, I come out with a more expensive vehicle as well. But then that just does not jive with the segment prices they are going to have to at least pretend to compete with and then on top of that is the whole flagship pricing.

Oh, and I never took anything you said as if it was said in anger and I knew the NOTHING comment was an exaggeration...hence my exaggeration back ;)

Thanks for the Italian Execs insight. I never took into account a possible language/communication issue. I agree about the "expensive" thing. Some people read that as if they will boost the price or artificially inflate it because they can. I have always felt that the "...expensive, intentionally so." quote meant that they weren't going to compromise in order to compete within a specific segment. I think Marchionne thought, "If we're going to do this, we're going to do it right." And that means excellent capabilities, even in the most basic form. And that costs money. Marketing has been placing it in the mod-sized truck class, because consumers need comps. Marchionne always felt that the Wrangler had no comps, so they redesigned the JL and priced it that way. I see Jeep treating the Gladiator with the same respect.
I still feel that at a 10 to even 20% premium over the JL the JT will be priced right. I'm not hyping it (and certainly not fanboying it ;)), I just think that that's how Jeep feels about it. Flagships are something the marketing department worries about. I think the GC will still be the "flagship" at any price, at least until the GW arrives. So long as they have a GC variant that tops $100k:

The steering lock issue on the JL is extremely worriesome and needs to be corrected ASAP.
Come on, you need more adventure in your life. Flipping a coin before the drive home is only so fun, you need the steering system to do the flipping for you. =) Russian rou-steering?

So, because the Virgin Island rum has me thinking more clearly, I started surfing around.
For $57k (the price of a well equipped JLUR and possibly JTR), I could buy a 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer in VG condition (badass @$14k), a brand spanking new Triumph Thunderbird Storm (badass@$15k) and a 2019 Honda Insight hybrid Touring (leather, advanced safety, 55mpg, ect, $28k). So for the price of awesomeness (JL/JT), I could have old school awesomeness, new school badassery, and everyday common sense (the Insight is way better than a prius(I can't even capitalize it)).

Right?

So on Wednesday, this ^ plan is going to come to fruition in my world.

The trusty internet informs me that my vintage Gladiator will arrive on that fateful day.

If it does, and it runs and drives, hallelujahs.

(There's a better than even chance the deal was too good to be true, therefore is not true, and I end up with nada.)

Will keep ya'll posted!

I guess everyone's idea of VG is different, but this one had no rust, solid floors, VG interior, all mechanicals worked as they should, matching rims, etc. Probably $8-10k away from being stellar. It was on the North Shore of LI. Lasted on Craigslist about a week.:(
This one's pretty decent, though. Just under $15k.

It's not fake. Simulated bruh! Simulated! And yes, those are some good deals in the pre-owned market. My kind of value to price ratios found there...

That one looks pretty good! I kinda miss my '85 but don't really miss 9 mpg haha. Blows my mind how much they're going for these days.

It's at least an '86 judging by the paneling. The difference between that and the minivan are that Grand Wagoneers were and are cool. :P

It may be hard to believe now but those things were the height of luxury back then.

The minivans or Grand Wagoneers?
Funny story, before my parents went to go buy that van, they asked us kids what they should get. We said get any color except white, or one of those ugly wood grained vans.........They came home with A WHITE WOOD GRAINED van. LOL

I was pretty young, but i believe the reason was because it was cheap.
