So here is the first picture I see of under the rear seat without the optional lockable box. I actually like it better. It looks like a lot more storage space without the box. Although not lockable. But the storage space behind the back of the seat is lockable and if you don’t get the optional Bluetooth speaker then there is storage space on both sides behind the seat.

Storage behind the seat... imagine without the optional speaker the left would look like the right... Note: the back seat can be locked with the key in the uptight position.

Not having the box was one of my questions at the Detroit auto show to one of the reps. They told me there wasn’t one to see without the box in it and that most people will get the box for the “increased” storage capability. To me, no box is increased storage. But that’s my preference.

Thanks OP for posting the pic. It convinces me that a no box option will be best.

Is the storage box option or standard? I don’t recall seeing it as an option on the configuration tool.

Nice find..but does that mean you also loose the 115V outlet in the bed?

No box for me either and I am going to remove the plastic storage bin so the floor is as close to flat as possible.

You get the box when you order the optional trail rail system.

Don’t get the Bluetooth speaker and also don’t get that center bass speaker and you would have even more storage space behind the back seat. I listened to a Wrangler that had just 8 speakers, did not have a 9th speaker (a bass speaker) and it sounded just fine, don’t really need that bass speaker, was overkill.

And by the way when you don’t get the box under the rear seat then you are left with this divider thing. If you want to have even more storage space under the rear seat then you can just take out this divider thing all together. It’s only held in place by just 4 bolts.

PM me after you get your truck. I may want to buy the under seat box from you. Am looking to get a Sport model. And a guy at Jeep told me on an email that I would be able to get the trail rail system on a Sport model which is not shown on the build site. So if I can’t get one then I would be interested in buying your box from you. Thanks.

If you chose to not get jeeps lockable storage box im sure a longer ammo box would bolt up there nicely
I'm envisioning someth like this with the gator color and saddle seats. Might need to stain the box, or just make it out of plywood.

After looking at the video reviews, I’m thinking the same. No cargo management system. I don’t need the 110 outlet, can buy fender rails aftermarket and the storage space is more open without the removable box. For those thinking of removing the perimeter piece... it think it supports the front edge of the seat bottom. I may be wrong though. Personally I’m thinking I could add a fence gate style latch to the bottom edge of the seat and that plastic wall to make it lockable and keep all my ratchet straps, draw bar and recovery gear under there 24/7.

My wife says she saw that you can put ice in the under-seat storage boxes? Has anyone else seen that?
