500 HP on the JK. Probably the same on the JL but now you have an 8 speed tranny to pair with that HP.
I definitely agree w the auto tranny. I wish I would have done that. That 500 whp Jk has a built motor that really not comparing apples to apples.

On another note. I haven’t had any issues with my motor on the jl, I know a few turbo guys have run into big problems

So you're running the supercharger on the 6 speed manual? Can the manual transmission safely handle the new torque figure produced by the supercharger? How much HP and torque did it increase by?

Correct. The stock auto and stock manual tranny can hold the power wo issues. They tuned it to 370.5 hp from a baseline of 220. That’s wheel hp. I don’t recall the torque but it’s a similar gain. Ripp has it up on their YouTube. You’ll see my granite jlur there.

I did see it! I was wondering about that. Looks awesome :like:

So at crank the pentastar is rated at 280 hp. Ripp dynoed it at 220 whp. That's roughly 21.4% difference between crank vs wheel. After installing the SC, the power increased to 370 whp and 350 foot torque. If I apply that earlier percentage to the new numbers and converting to crank, that would be 449.2 hp and 424.9 foot torque! Does that sound right? If so the new 6 speed manual in the JL (same as Gladiator) can handle that much of torque :surprised:

You lost me on this one... what new numbers? As far as I know the jt has the same motor and 280 or 285 HP?? It would stand to reason numbers should be very similiar

Let me clarify. When I said "new numbers" I'm talking about the gain you get after adding supercharger on the pentastar engine. On RIPP website, it said the power went up to 370 WHP and 350 foot torque.

My bad, you just converted the WHP to crank HP. We're on the same page.

I'm not an expert, but I believe the tranny is good for 500hp, my clutch probably not so much.

Those of us in California can't add anything that isn't CARB-certified, thanks to bi-annual smog testing. RIPP seems to be the only company that CARB certifies their kits, so that's likely the only option for us!

Sprintex is usually a CARB approved option too, so at least one of each style supercharger. If I can't end up with a diesel for whatever reason I will definitely be looking at some sort of supercharger. Wife has a JLU and I can't picture myself towing a trailer with that 3.6.

If you install a supercharger your warranty is gone.

The gains are impressive but at high RPMs. For a jeep you want the power at the low end. This is why a V8 or Diesel is beneficial. Not many people want to race around in a Jeep.

The RIPP super chargers are much more expensive for jeep products. For the JL it is nearly $8,000...

For this price, you can get the 3.6 Prodigy turbo which, if you are looking for speed, will destroy the supercharger.
IMO, the JT motor doesnt produce enough exhaust to spool a turbo fast enough to destroy a SC. A SC has a more consistent power increase through all RPMs in a V6. And this engine is plenty powerful to turn a SC. Turbos are great for V8's .
