GSA is given procurement authority. I was a Federal Government contractor in a past life before PA School. Purchasing agents are given certain preferred vendors and a budget. There DOES NOT have to be a request for proposal and specific contract for every government purchase. In my field of forestry the were referred to as a stewardship contract and could extend out as far as 10 years. This saves tons of time for the procurement officers. Not necessarily a good deal for the contractor if fuel prices skyrocket. Between my theee machines we would burn 200 gallons in a 10 hour day, conversely if prices go down you’re locked in against lowering prices.

And as for the government orders they arent doing that "have to be built before customer cars" because they already have gladiators on dealer lots around me.... If that clears up speculation

I think the whole Gov Orders fiasco was actually the Launch Edition

Yea - I think it was just info given to the factory workers just to appease their desire for info.

I am curious where all those white gladiators went. I don’t think they were crash test dummies - I haven’t seen any published reports on safety/crashes. But I’m no expert.

It’s the U.N. They are using gladiators to round us all up. Jk :)

What Launch Edition? I know that Steveale and others here are thinking that this is like the little old lady in the Wendy’s commercial wondering where’s the beef? But in this case everyone’s wondering: Where’s all the damn rumored to exist launch editions?

Usually the 1st 2-300 they use for crash test and other purposes.... You wont hear anything about it for awhile.... They do it at the beginning of every model changeover.... Like when jl goes to the 2020s they will run about 200 white jls in a row to send up to the test track.... And the "launch editions" aren't the gov orders.... They are on dealer lots in my area

And usually when i new vehicle launches they usually use white alot because it is the easiest to paint.... A majority of the jts they are building right now are white.... They are only currently running 4 colors because the simplicity of the color.... (white, black, red) and they a have recently doing a couple silvers here and there

They also run mass amounts of the same color to test the mixing so the color matches.... They fine tune the mixes the first few hundred cars because parts are painted at many different facilities.... So we can fine tune the color matches between for example the body to the flares to the cowls to the hardtop... The suppliers paint things like that at different places to matching colors is a bigger process than you may think... The only thing we paint on the jl/jt is the body and doors... Suppliers paint everything else

The first part makes sense. I didn’t know about crash tests.

However, there are no launch editions anywhere... they are not on lots.

Yea first part makes sense here - but I’m confused why the White Launch Editions have not shipped yet... those should be first, mine in particular

It probably depends on location.... There is a few lots around here, but i live close to the factory, and i may have misworded about the "crash test" part.... Not all of them get run into a wall... Some get crashed.... Some are fast feedback cars where people in the company can lease them for a short period so they can be tested and work out bugs with performance if any, and some just get thrown into a car crusher.... When i say pilot cars it means not for sale and used for testing.... We are building 3.0l eco diesels right now for the jl, but you won't see them on the road unless its someone within the company and those all go into a crusher
