There are several very good size comparison websites. I like the one on Discount Tire website. I will be going with a 275/65R18 AT. Gives me a wider stance, aggressive tread and most importantly for me, the same height. So I don't have to worry about a change in speedo or calibration issues. Just need to get the best deal on a brand.

Falken LT (light truck) tires tend to be a heavier tire. Cheaper price point as well. The tire you are looking at weighs 60.2 lbs. Now they also offer a non LT tire in that same size and it weighs considerably less at just a little over 47 lbs. I think there are better options out there. What I've found however is that there are less tire options for an 18" wheel than a 17" wheel but if you are sticking with the factory Overland wheels than you are stuck with only 18" options.

Like he said, weight is a problem on the LT. I would stick with P metric. Lots of brand choices then. The Wildpeak is middle of the road but a good tire. Should give you a lot of smiles and miles.

Im not locked in on anything at this point. I just liked the reviews of the tire. I never really thought about the weight issue. Ill continue looking. P metric? Its been many years since ive been in the market for bigger tires, so ill have to look that up... lol

I think the one I was looking at was the one that weighs 47lbs. it seems to have really good reviews from what I have found. I used to own some Nitto grapplers a long time ago, but not sure how they are now.

Hi, All. I have a JT Overland with the stock Bridgestone all-season tires. I am looking at a couple of all-terrain options for a more aggressive look and better off-road capability. I do not want to change the tire size to avoid having to find someone who will recalibrate everything. Here are the two tires I have narrowed it down to:
BRIDGESTONE DUELER A/T RH-S
GOODYEAR WRANGLER ALL TERRAIN ADVENTURE WITH KEVLAR
I can get a set of 5 of either for about the same price. I am leaning toward the Goodyear. I live in Ohio. #ShopLocal (Goodyear is based in Akron, OH).
Thoughts? Recommendations/warnings?
Thank you.

Both great tires. I am a fan of Bridgestone but I have a biased opinion. I worked for them for 20 years.

You can change the size to a wider foot print without changing the overall diameter. So no changes to speedometer or need to recalibrate. 275/65R18 is the same OD as the 255/70R18 OE Bridgestone. Just a thought.

Here is some data on that size in various brands.

OE - Bridgestone HT 255/70R18 SL at 45lbs

Load Range Weight lbs
Falken Wildpeak AT3 C 49lbs
Hankook AT SL 44lbs
Toyo Open Country ATII SL 42lbs
Nitto Ridge Grappler XL 45lbs
NittoTerra Grappler XL 43.7lbs
General ATX SL 42.8lbs
Yokohama Geolander SL 42.8lbs
BFG All Terrain E 55.5lbs
Bridgestone REVO AT3 SL 42lbs

I put my JK 285/75/17 ridge Grapplers on my Gladiator no rub & they stick out just s little on paper it’s a 34”
Perfect! That is the exact tire I was looking at for my Sport S Max Tow. Looks great!!
What is the offset on your wheels? Thanks.

Edit: I think I found them... AEV Borah with +4mm offset.

Yes these stick out maybe an inch because they are JK Wheels

You can definitely do Rubicon take offs and quite frankly that might be your cheapest option. A good majority of those who buy Rubicons immediately take off their stock wheels and tires and post them in the classified section of Jeep forums as well on craigslist.
What I've found however is that there are less tire options for an 18" wheel than a 17" wheel but if you are sticking with the factory Overland wheels than you are stuck with only 18" options.
@Trauma PA is right on both counts above... Unless you just really love the Overland's 18" wheels, you are best served by snagging a set of new take-off 17" JL Rubicon wheels and tires. Then sell your Overland wheels/tires and if you are lucky will have upgraded for little to no cost. Or keep the Overland wheels to put back on truck if you sell it.

Either way, 17" is the way to go for overland off road use.

I wouldn't do either of the tires you mentioned. If you are staying stock tire size, I'd do the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They are only 43 lb. and will give you the aggressive looking all-terrain tire you are desiring. They are good in all conditions. Sort of a hybrid tire. And if you are sticking with the factory size tire, why are you buying 5? Just keep the factory tire underneath the bed as your spare and save yourself the added expense of another tire. Who cares if it doesn't match the other 4 as long as it's the same size. It's only meant to be there in the event you have a flat. IMO, it's too much of a PIA to drop the spare down and incorporate into your tire rotation and if I'm not mistaken, the wheel on the spare might just be a cheap steel wheel.
