If someone can build a rig like the Wayout concept I would pay for it. But, I would prefer a closed concept over the bed and use that space more creatively and wisely...

Alright im curious what you overlanders like with regards to the back. Do you like a hard enclosed shell like RLD designs, a soft one like can-back, or an open leitner style one? Is the complete enclosure necessary to you?

I posted above your my preference. But we are planning on multi week/month trips. Mainly offgrid type camping and traveling in austere environments and through different countries. Needs tend to change from being able to build a platform bed under a leer to something more exclusive. At my age and injuries I don’t really want to rough it. You will find that the needs of an individual are very different and change from person to person. Like I said some would just build up old nonmodern series troopies through landrovers. Others build a modern pickup with basic bed under a canopy. Some just use a tent on the ground while other use a roof top. Then you have someone like me doing longer trips, crossing more country lines up to the ones in million dollar rigs doing Europe, Africa, and Russia,

That build wasn’t [Banned Site] but done by dynatrac for Overland expo west. A build of many faucets between Dynatrac, Patriot Campers, and using a hellcat engine and bodyshop is the basic of it, look up dynatrac codex.

I didn't know that the Wayout concept had a Hellcat engine in it. So, basically all of these mods for overlanding are a bit over the top complete redress of the vehicle... If that is the case then I might as well go to ICON or TLC and just get a LandCruiser or a Landrover Defender build from the ground up...

I think there is still a market for someone to produce an overlanding solution that we can use to "install" on our Gladiators that we can also easily remove... Replying to @Slapping_Rabbits, I would like to see a closed solution in the back and make great use of the space while keeping the aesthetics of the Jeep as well. I like what TrailRecon on YT did with his JL... I don't plan to take this truck to other countries overseas (Mexico and Canada don't count ). I just feel like if you are going to be gone off grid or to a lot of remote places in various parts of the world you will need a dedicated rig. I do like the rig built by the YT channel BearOverland (sp?) with their Defender rig - a lot of mods on that rig and was built ground up...

That would be sweet. that one aluminum topper above in this thread was nice, but $3,500 shipped is pricey IMO without any cubbies or shelf, or anything.

That looks great. However they really should have made it to match to top of the truck so things loaded onto it could extend out over the cab of the truck.

3 ... I don't plan on paying for the trail rail. My aftermarket tonneau cover will mount cleanly (c-clamps to inner edge of bed rail) if I attach the bed rack straight through the top of the plastic bed rail cover.

Here's a picture of the under side of the bed rail where the plastic cover pushes through.

doesn't follow the shape of the cab (might be on purpose to reduce wind drag, but i doubt it, probably just adapted the same rack off another vehicle they did one for.

Not tall enough IMO
