This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. An awful lot of work for a soft cover someone could defeat by simply cutting open with a pocket knife.
And you have the soft roll up tonneau? It actually doesn't take a great amount of force to pull it up. It's just a rubber weather seal smushed up against the tailgate that holds it down.
I guess my point is that mine isn't loose.c'mon guys! don't poop on my dreams of soft cover engineering!
Yes - totally you are both correct. But vandalism is a far stretch from simply pulling up a loose cover.

anything is possible. all the ones i've seen in person (2) can be opened with just a little bit of lift with your fingers.

Mine is also this way. When the tonneau cover is correctly latched it would take some effort to pry it up. The problem id the instructions are not clear on the correct way to latch it, it took the salesperson and I a few minutes to figure that out. Once the cover is completely unrolled you have to push down on a spot about 6" forward of the end of the cover until you hear a click. It is at that point it is locked into place and does not just lift up with your fingers.
that's so weird, i pushed all over the tonneau in that area based on a facebook video, can't seem to get it to "click" and @BestopTeam hasn't commented on it.
I wonder if the brackets need to be adjusted? Maybe they are too low to fully seat the latch?
You have to make sure the cover is pulled tight towards you and then the "hooks" go into their slots. I'll try to take some pictures later. It takes no effort for it to click in now that I understand how it works.
