Right now I am close to 17 mpg.

Sport S running 4.10 rear though...so not sure how much that is factoring in. Would be good to hear from someone with the same configuration.

Hoping when it breaks in it will get closer to 19.

That, and maybe I should drive a bit slower :)
I have the Sport S with 4.10, getting 20 daily driving, mostly back roads no lights to and from work. Got around 13 towing a travel trailer weighing about 3600 pounds.

What's your tire pressure? What is your typical speed? Do you turn off the @SS system (seriously, these systems in real world applications are a bag of @SS and even the button and dash label it as @)? Do you have a lot of hill changes? When you come to a stop do you idle up to the stop or are you aggressive on the brakes? For freeways do you follow bigger vehicles or drive solo?

Speed is the enemy for MPG especially when driving a 2.5 ton brick. Mythbusters proved a lot of stuff that can help improve your fuel efficiency. At speeds over 55 mph, it's more fuel efficient to use the AC than to have the windows down. Higher tire pressures result in lower friction losses (also less likely to hydroplane in wet environments typically calculated at 10.65 times the square root of your tire pressure). Following big rigs (I like to follow car carrier big rigs because those wont kick up debris because the trailers sit very low and the wheel wells are usually protected so they dont kick stuff up on to the cars they are carrying and damage them) GREATLY improves fuel efficiency (also proven by mythbusters). I personally followed a big rig at 70 mph at 2 bars on the adaptive cruise control and was getting about 32 to 34 mpg over a 30 mile stretch. Carrying as little weight in the vehicle will also slightly improve fuel efficiency. If you are coming up to a red light, letting off the gas and idling down to speed from 300+ yarder back will also significantly improve fuel economy.

These are some basics. Look up "hypermiling" if you want to improve your fuel economy. Some of it makes no sense that it works but it does. One guy was able to get something like 134 mpg in a geo metro incorporating hypermiling if I remember correctly.
I'm a pretty subdued driver. My tire pressure is still around 43 which was set I assume at dealership. I only drive between 35-45 mph and I keep the start/stop feature on. My daily commute is 12 miles round trip. I'd say the roads are pretty normal and not hilly. The fastest I've had the vehicle was 70 on highway but settled in around 65. I try not to tail vehicles given what I know about the windshields

Seeing what others are getting for MPG gives me hope that with another 500 or so miles maybe mine will improvee. So far the Gladiator hasn't seen a gas station it didn't want to pull into

I guess if you’re worried about gas mileage then the gladiator is not for those that worry about it besides it doesn’t matter what kind of vehicle you drive if it’s empty you got to put gas in it I drive 42 miles one way to work so I have a 1994 Honda Accord with 350 thousand miles on it but since I got the gladiator I have been driving it to work the only problem with that is I can’t get people to move away from looking at it so I can drive home don’t want to run over anybody and the looks you get from people going down the road are like what the crap is that and then a thumbs up

Hahaha I must have a heavy foot then... city I see 14mpg and highway around 17mpg. Now if I cheat and reset on the highway and cruise at 65mph I see 19mpg but I’ll never get anywhere at that speed....

I dont think anyone is "worried" about gas mileage but it's not wrong to talk about it either. The Gladiator is for anyone who likes it, wants it, and can afford to buy it in the configuration of their choosing.

Gladiator buyers know exactly what to expect for MPG as its listed in black and white on the sticker. Achieving the listed fuel mileage for the gladiator shouldn't be an unrealistic expectation for buyers. In stock configuration, that is.

Curious on that tire pressure. If you are around 43, what is the max cold on your tire rating?

Totally agree...it's not like we buy Jeeps for the gas mileage.

That said, around town...

My JK was around 16
My JL was around 18.5
My JT (Still breaking in) is around 16.9

Even 2 more mph is an increase of 12% (or something like that).

:)

Good question as I'll have to check on that. I've read in different forums that tire pressure in the 40's is too high. I just haven't gotten around to airing down.

I also read lower TP helps with the handling which seems fine to me at this point.

This, Mine is the same as yours. I can’t tell if it hurts mpg or not having it constantly changing.
Wow that's interesting. It's primarily in the 40-50mph range that I notice it staying in grears below 8 for what seems like a long time. Accelerating normally to 60+Mph, mine seems to find 8th pretty quickly and stay there. I have 3.73 gears, not sure if that matters.

interesting, mine was also set at 43 from the dealership. it seemed kind of high to me, and when i looked at the recommended pressure on the door jam sticker (just this morning actually) it says it should be 36. I plan to air down tonight

That’s a good point I had forgotten. I have 4.10 gears and just assumed it was solely the all terrain tires and rubicon setup. Thankfully the transmission is really smooth and quick for a truck and is a blast to drive.

Maybe its our CA gas lol, all those taxes and poor gas.
I am waiting on my JT but my wife's JLUR has about 650 miles and is averaging about 14 combined with the turbo 2.0. LOVE the motor, hoping mileage will get better, it is a kick in the pants to drive compared to the JKUR I had.

Rubicon, and I am averaging 14. Got about 600 miles on it. No mods, soft top, and no tonneau cover.
