Here are some pics of what it looks like and where to press to make sure it is latched. If that does not latch it I would suspect the brackets that it latches to are out of adjustment.

NOTE: If it doesn't work on one side try the other, you should only have to press one side though to latch it.

Hope this helps...

I’m going to make a video...
I'm not saying you can't get into the tonneau, but it's not a simple lift it up really easily process when you put it down correctly. It covers my stuff and keeps honest people honest. If someone wants to steal something they're going to cut open the cover and take it. I'd prefer they just pry it up at that point.

lol, ANOTHER VIDEO!
You have to make sure the cover is pulled tight towards you and then the "hooks" go into their slots. I'll try to take some pictures later. It takes no effort for it to click in now that I understand how it works.
We'll see what ralph comes up with, but what you desdcribe is the normal click that happens when 5/6 of the cover is rolled back, put the hooks in their slot, flip down it clicks, then flip the last 1/6 section and it gets pinched by the tailgate.

you're right @steffen707 I ain't got time to make a video...

@Kjm18 @jimcald do you guys know about the "weekend warrior" position? Basically that is where the tonneau is latched and locked, but the very last section of it is still folded open. (I think it also means that the tailgate is in the plywood hauling position). Note the picture on the right:

Here's a better picture @steffen707 put up somewhere else... maybe that's a screenshot from someone else's video? Dont' know..

So the first bit of the tonneau can be flipped up even with the latch locked - even if the tailgate is closed and locked...

You can do that exact same thing he does at the end, with the tailgate closed. Seriously...

Correct. I cannot easily open that last 1/6th when my tailgate is closed. I can to it with a lot of force, but I don't really plan to keep many incredibly valuable things stored in the bed.

It's seriously not easy to do on mine. I'm aware of all of that. I think it might have to do with the bed liner. With it pressed up against the weather seal it really doesn't want to lift up.

I do have it, but it seems to me they didn't do a great job on the tailgate. It's very rough.

It may well be the spray on bed liner that is making a difference. My Rubicon didn't come with the bed liner and the last flap of the soft roll up tonneau easily lifts up with the tailgate closed. All this talk about pressing and clicks has nothing to do with that last flap, that is the latch of the next portion before the last flap. That last flap has a simple hinge with no other mechanism.
So my truck is getting LineX this Weds. morning in the bed. I'm pretty sure between the coating thickness and grippy texture that that last flap will be more securely held.
If that doesn't help I do have a pretty easy idea that would physically engage the tailgate with the tonneau flap when closed.

That could be the missing link. I think on each of the trucks i pulled up on, they didn't have bed liners. So perhaps you're right, the bed liner gripping the weather seal tightly might require much more force........interesting.

The tailgate has an access cover with screws. Use a few of those screws to secure a metal strip with a lip. Add another lip to the last bar of the tonneau frame. Tonneau fully closed and then close the tailgate engaging the lips so the flap can't be lifted. The tailgate lip would be quite shallow so not to be in the way. Haven't crawled in to make measurements with things buttoned up......nobody around to let me out!

A little off topic, but when the tonneau cover is locked, is there play between the cover and the bed sides? Or would the tonneau cover work if there was say a 1/4" metal plate (not plywood @steffen707 ;) ) between the tonneau cover and bed sides at a couple of places along the bed rail?

I'm revisiting my idea of a rack that would work with the tonneau cover (now that I've given up on ever seeing a Granite LE and my dealer has a Silver LE coming in with my name on it next week).

There is play in several places, yes. You could do what you're thinking.
