The top one is Baldy Mountain, Philmont, in case you didn't recognize it. Actually have been to Philmont five times--once for a trek, three training center sessions, and Wood Badge. Of all of that and much more, Sea Base was absolutely the most fun.
I thought it might be, but wasn't sure since I haven't been there. Jealous, my troop always talked about going out there, but one guy my entire time in was the only one who ever went out there. I think Sea Base got more votes, which we also didn't do. Can't complain though Tinnerman was a blast, driveable, and less than a plane ticket to any of the others.

I am hoping somebody might be able to point me in the right direction of what I should do. I feel like a made a mistake not ordering the steel bumper from the factory.

Long story short I ordered the jeep primarily for the fact because it was a convertible truck, with offloading being a nice "bonus feature" Still got the rubicon because of the feature set though compared to the sport. Overland was out due to towing capacity.

Fast forward 9 days after getting the truck and me and the kids are having a blast driving it around my yard and really want to go offroading. I have also been using the tow hooks to take down dead trees, a winch would work way better here. Also do not feel comfortable going offroading without being prepared (eagle scout, lol)

After looking at options I am kind of in a bind. Was going to go with a front hitch mount, but can't due to the Rubicon steel plate up front I would rather keep in place.

Thought about getting a new bumper, but cost and the crazy number of options out there is overwhelming (379-2k+). Also don't want to effect my payload on my jeep by putting something too heavy up there. Strangely enough I also like the look of the stock bumper.

Any ideas or recommendations?

I might have missed it if someone said it already, but have you looked for a JL steel take off? I've seen a few around here. The fact that they are the same bumper should make it easier to find one.

I won't send my boys to Philmont because their literature goes on and on about the significant bear threat, but it also says that no adult can have a firearm anywhere near the place. I have taken my boys on 27 miles, partly above-treeline, backpacking trips with friends and family. Otherwise, I like the idea of Philmont, but I have actually had to defend my family in the backwoods with a firearm. And I'm not giving that up for an expensive trip where I get to get disarmed, putting my sons in unnecessary danger from an organization that has banned water-gun battles because they promote violence.

So anyway, I would like to hear how the trail can hook up with the tazer goes.

I did some searching and couldn't find anything. But am happy with the Rugged Ridge one I found for $435, Weight on it isn't bad at all and it comes with the plate built in so overall a cheaper deal. Plus it looks like you need the factory LED fogs to use the steel bumper from Mopar.

Wow I didn't realize things had gotten that bad. I remember all of the shooting trips I had growing up in scouts. I am guessing the organization isn't the same as when I got my eagle 14 years ago. Really was thinking of getting my kids involved in a few years. Don't want to get them in too early in cub scouts so many people burn out before the fun even really starts.

I will be sure to post. It looks like I will need to make my own bracket though since the one it comes with only works on the JL grill

Cool. I am curious as to how hard it is to wire up. I read the instructions and it seems pretty involved, however I read somewhere a while back the the wire connections might already be under the hood.

I might need to wait then until people smarter than me try the install. I know a bunch of people purchased the black friday special for this.
