Not a bad practice but I would add that people need to make sure and factor in any trade-in tax offsets between what a third party will pay you for your trade vs. the dealer. Third party trade-in value needs to cover that tax offset.Just as an fyi, I just traded a 2016 JKU that only had a little over 10k miles. Before I went to the dealer, I got a price from Carvana. That actually helps when it comes time to negotiate trade value, especially when they are trying to lowball you.
Takes only a few minuets and they are generally fair.
That was the dealership I was hoping to work with; offered me $10K under fair price at most places. There are four at the dealer here in Lexington, KY. Being advertised at $55,800.
I don't follow what you're saying, here. Perhaps I'm having a dense moment; where's my coffee??That was the dealership I was hoping to work with; offered me $10K under fair price at most places.
Oh no, you're not having a dense moment, I'm the one who forgot to put in some vital information. They offered me 10k$ under fair price for my trade-in is what I should've added. Claimed they used KBB, sent me a document that looked very much edited to look like it was from KBB.I don't follow what you're saying, here. Perhaps I'm having a dense moment; where's my coffee??
My frustration with trading in a vehicle is the inconsistency of dealership values; I’ll get an offer from one dealership for my trade in that I would be pretty happy with, and then just down the road I’ll get 5-10K below that offer. A little annoying, but once I find a good dealership to work with, it’ll be worth the wait!$55,800 is about $200 over employee pricing. I assume this includes the destination charge, if so it is a good deal. I paid $55,600 (or there about) with a employee control number on my purchase.
I don't get why people think they are going to get KBB value on trade in's and complain about it. The dealership is going to be 10-20% less depending on the vehicle to cover themselves. If you truly believe in your vehicles value, put it on Autotrader and it will sell in less than 2 weeks if appropriately priced.
Maybe this might be more you're guys speed, '16 Charger Hellcat, just 10k miles on it. Going to head to storage as we don't want it sitting in the snow that is coming soon...

I'll have to talk to my wife, but I'm sure she would be interested in going. Our last visit there was the trip home from Motor Inn picking up my Gladiator and the view wasn't as planned with the fog blocking the views.Wondering if any of you that purchased JTs from Motor Inn are interested in going to the Jeep Jamboree in the Black Hills next Sept. I signed up today. https://jeepjamboreeusa.com/
