I am sure this has been addressed but I received some emails about this so...

This is a common problem when trying to defrost the front windshield...

I have found that the dual-zone has been the problem (and the fix). Frankly, you need to bump it up pretty high, but warm air does come out on both sides.

The pic below it shows the setting between both sides...2 Degrees makes all the difference...

How the hell are your windows frosting up in Florida? Ha ha!

On a more serious note, I don't have the cold weather group, and I'm in Idaho. 18 Degrees here yesterday, no defrosting problems, but I do have cold seats for a bit.

Is there not a sync mode so you don't have to set two different temps?

I think you can override the dual-zone in the settings. I think I remember something about the Driver overriding the passenger.

I like the dual-zone...just seems silly when the defroster needs to kick in though.

I think it was due to fog LOL

I would have thought that pressing the defrost button would disable dual zone capability. Just my assumption.

That is what I would have thought as well. When I felt the air, the left was definitely warmer. I jacked the right side up to "hi" and it was way warmer.

I think @steffen707 posted the defrost schematic and it didn’t look like it was dual zone.

Check for one of your famous FL snakes in the right defrost duct.
In Iowa, we check for mice.
(see solution below for that one)

I have the Overland with dual whatever and when I push the defrost button, it seems to warm up both sides fine but due to the lack of great air flow coming out the extreme left and right, the right is usually not cleared as well as far as ICE.
Does it disable the zones? Dunno - but it MAY based on other stuff I've learned and read about these.
If you have dual zone you do have a sync mode. I can't see why defrost would have zones, though, because it changes fan speed, air temp and everything in mine when I push that defrost button. The whole things kicks out of human comfort mode into "get this ice the heck offuv the glass!" mode.

OK, the Iowa solution to mice in the truck or car.............

i did a version square plugs, but just put them all right next to each other. I've found that the airflow still makes it around the squares enough that it defrosts the middle of the windshield and then the extra airflow to left and right defrosts there too. I'll try to find the photo of mine or take a new one tomorrow.

I need to find the posts on those squares - I thought I had some but can't find them. Mine does mostly ok but could do better on the sides....
In all fairness, it was nasty ice, and I've had vehicles do worse. I'd just like it to do better. We get a lot of freezing rain and freezing drizzle around here - and more coming with a big winter storm ...... again......

I did the square plugs - only used about 10 and just used groups of 2 spaced with 2 open vents between each pair. So far it has done well, but do not know if it is just luck that haven’t had real bad storm to put them to the test. It did clear a minor icing build up at the driver side rather quickly after I left the defrost off in the storm this AM.
I saw the same squares at the Lowe’s hardware aisle in the specialty fastener drawers.

That was it - Lowe's - about 15-20 minutes from me in good weather, 40 minutes tomorrow LOL
