I’ve never owned a Jeep but I’ve been obsessing over them for a couple of years now. Watching all the videos, lurking in forums, building them online, etc. It started with Wranglers but it wasn’t in the cards to own one because I really need a pick-up. So of course I was ecstatic when they came out with the Gladiator. Well I though it was all coming to fruition yesterday. Unfortunately we wound up talking to the world worst sales manager. He wouldn’t budge off their advertised price which honestly was pretty good but he badly lowballed me on my trade. He was an arrogant piece of work right from the start and obviously had no intention of trying to make deal. Just this is the price and what we’ll give you for the trade, take it or leave it. I’ve never experienced anything like it before when trying to buy a vehicle. There are many dealers closer to us than this one but none have what I’m looking for.
I think my next move will be to send a build sheet to Travis at Tri-City and look at selling my Tundra outright. One way or another I plan to soon be the proud owner of a Crystal Granite Rubicon.

I think you’re on the right track.
My local dealer had the same attitude. In this day and age it’s amazing that certain businesses believe they are the only source for a particular product.

I also ordered from Travis and it was fairly straight forward and there were no surprises.
Just give @Travis@TriCityJeep a call and let one of his team take care of you.
The hardest part will be the wait but hopefully things have streamlined since the launch.

Good luck!

Try www.webuyanycar.com. You can upload your info online and get a quote. That quote is the most that they will give you. I have sold my last two cars that way.

Thanks! I know we’ll get it done if we’re patient. Just take it as a learning experience and move on :like:

Keep shopping, you will find a dealer willing to give you a reasonable amount for your trade, and give you a fair price on the JT. That $2k rebate would be hard to pass up.

I used an offer print out from Carvana to boost the trade amount the dealer gave me.

I think there are a few threads on FL dealers who provided a good price. Do a search and they should pop up.

Good luck

givemethvin.com is a good one as well. The dealers are really going to offer less that what it takes to sell at the nearest auction (transport + auction fees ). The auction is selling higher mileage and older cars to small lot owners and for overseas market, so givemethevin and others like it are trying to make a couple grand and sell direct to the smaller car lots and overseas buyers without the auction fees, as such you can a few more $$. Don't sleep on facebook marketplace or forums like this and tundratalk, very easy to sell a clean Tundra to a private party.

You should consider bringing the window sticker of the JT you want to another dealer and see if they can find one similar through a dealer trade. You can also use that opportunity to bargain with them. Just let them know what the situation is with the other dealer and they need to come in cheaper.

I hade a similar situation with a dealer #1 not giving me a fair trade so I went to dealer #2 and they found one close by and made it work. Local dealers tend to be very competitive with each other.

Thanks that is good to give a comparison on what the stealership is giving. Autonation is giving me a good price on my Colorado.

Yes, we are considering this option as it has worked for us in the past. We once Test drove a Corolla at one dealership that wouldn’t make us a decent deal. We drove to the next town over and bought the very same one through the other dealer at the deal we wanted.
We talked to a salesman we liked at a local CDJ dealer that didn’t have what were looking for. So I’m going to give him the opportunity to nab the one from the other place. Then if that doesn’t work we’ll give Travis call.

I looked into them on my truck and they were severely underpricing it. I know they have to make some cash but BB is at $24-25 for trade in and they were at $18500.

One thing I will never do anymore is physically go to a dealer to buy a car. I always call multiple dealers and see who will even talk numbers over the phone.

Let's go ahead & make this happen! Shoot me an email with your build. I've helped far more Florida customers than I could even begin to estimate. There are a ton of Tri-City Jeeps down your way for a reason!

I look forward to helping you!

Just fired off the build sheet to Travis. Wife says we can take our vacation in NC this year, which rocks beacuse we normally trade off years.
Tropical beaches for her one year then Mountains for me the next. It's her year but she's willing to sacrifice it:rock:. It's no wonder we've made it 26 years!:involve:
