Added Aux Switches. Haven’t flashed yet. Is this normal?

EDIT for future searches-- I flashed the truck with a Superchips Flashcal. Once I turned the Aux Switches to enabled, the backlights operated, and the LEDs indicating power also worked. Switches 1 and 2 are set to the battery, whereas 3 and 4 are set to the ignition. Overall, I'm pleased with the upgrade. Getting through the firewall was insanely challenging, and for all the detail that went into the JL/JT, I wish they made an auxiliary grommet knowing how many people would run wiring into the cab.

I used a punch as my specialty pin setter. I also snapped off the orange original pin, and use the heatshrink/solder all in one tube to fix it. Overall, it's probably easier just to hard splice the orange lines than set the two plugs. YRMV.

As the title suggests, I spent today putting in those aux switches. Going through the firewall was insanely challenging. Yeesh. Anyway, I haven’t flashed the truck yet but the switch LEDs do not come on by pressing the buttons. Is this normal before the flash?

Thanks in advance! I tried searching to no avail. :(

Check for blown fuses. I have read that the install instructions are not good, and say to do things in an order that results in fuses blowing. If everything is not fully wired and powered, the radio flash to enable the switches may fail and need done again.

Thanks! So the switch LEDs light up even before the flash? It will feel like chasing a ghost if I’m trying to fix things that might not be broken. :)

Just trying to save you time. Please don't get upset at an obvious question...Is the ignition in the RUN position?

Update— I checked the fuse box and didn’t see anything askew. I checked the wiring harness and it appears the 5a inline fuse blew. So I’m hoping it’s that.

Edit- replaced the fuse. Still nothing.

You very likely need to flash it because I'm fairly certain they're driven off the CAN bus given their settings in the infotainment center. If the system isn't looking for switches, it's not looking for any signal on that orange wire you tapped in the kick panel.

Been there done that with my jl. No lights will work and they will not show up on the radio screen until flashed.

When I did my install, the switch lights worked as expected. I had the issue of the options not showing up in the Uconnect. After checking all fuses I ended up disconnecting the battery for a short amount of time then reconnecting. Flashed with JScan then Let things set over night. The next morning everything worked as normal. I have read many other places some are having issues with the grey connector that you move pins in/out of. Possibility that something isn’t connected properly there..

I flashed mine with a Tazer Mini. It didn't show up on Uconnect. When I checked the following morning. Everything worked. I read on other posts that the delay is typical. I agree that routing the harness through the firewall was insanely painful. Now that it is done, I'm very happy with it.

Long due update, but I flashed it and it worked perfectly.
