This weekend was the first one with the Freedom Panels off all weekend for me. Above 40 mph, the inside of my Gladiator was like a wind tunnel, bad enough so anything on the seats front and back without any heft to it was picked up and wanted to fly out the top or the side window when it was open. Was never that bad on my 4 door Wrangler sport.

Anyone know if they sell a wind deflector that can go on the roof right in front of the opening, or like you put on the front hood?

I have taken my panels off numerous times and I also bought a sunrider... This feeling of unstable air you have with the front open, I have experienced too. The only thing I have found that helps a lot is to open my back slide window. And to answer your question... no I haven’t seen anything to what you are looking for. :(

I get no more wind than I got in my JKU but like mentioned above that's the point of having them off. Better get used to it, unless you Fab something up, but I would imagine anything you put there would look like crap. Also I don't think they have ever made anything like that for any model wrangler or gladiator.

I have to agree. Having the freedom panels off is actually beginning to annoy me unless I don't plan on going over 25mph.

Here we go another why did I buy this Jeep, it's starting to annoy me, it's not comfortable as my last ride thread. People, they are JEEPS, off road vehicles, fun in the sun, doors off, tops off vehicles. Let's go party vehicles, let's go get this thing stuck vehicles, wind in your hair, feel every bump in the road vehicles. That's what they are made for. They weren't engineered with the mindset that if someone takes the freedom panels out that you might feel a little wind on you. You could of got a, Ford,Chevy, Ram, plenty of other trucks with a sunroof only that would of cut down on the wind.

Not sure what post you read, guy is just asking a question (I don't see any "why did I" comment).

I don't ride with just my Freedom Panels off mostly because it's noisier (to me at least ) than having the entire top/door off. Opening the rear slider does help, but I prefer going completely topless.

To answer the OP, they DO make them for JK's, but haven't seen them for the JL/JT. Not sure if you could make it work. Just search Wrangler Top Deflector.

Folks catch so much shit on here lol

FWIW I installed a Spiderwebshade on my Gladiator. It is awesome for keeping the direct sun out of the cab. I can’t comment about before the shade without freedom panels and wind noise because the shade was one of my first mods. That being said, there is no turbulent air rushing into the cab with my freedom panels off and the shade in place. The only “annoyance” is when there is a cross wind the air will hit the front corners of the back hardtop and rush across the shade causing a whooshing sound. It can be annoying, but the radio drowns it out:rock:. If there is no crosswind there is no whooshing. Not sure how that works...

Maybe this helps!

The gripes are valid, yes it will be windy and loud and it will not be like a luxury convertible. It'll never be as whatever as the last one. But remember no matter how nice it was and how great it road, someone somewhere is sick and tired of it.

Wade makes a deflector for the jk which can probably be made to work, for 50 bucks I'd try it.

Hi All,

Thanks for the comments. BTW, I am not ANNOYED by the wind, and have had a jeep before. It just seems a LOT more windy than my 4 door sport with the panels off, and without the space behind the seats it creates a wind tunnel effect that pretty much lifts everything up and out that does not any heft to it (bye bye check book).

ACAD_COWBOY, great pic and info, gonna try that...thanks!

I've not noticed anything especially dramatic with wind in mine, but to be fair when my panels are off my windows are down and the back slider is open, even on the highway.

The reviews are not so good. As in five 1 star and one 2 star.
Yeah I had some Wade in channel rain guards on my JKU and they sucked. They got really deformed after only about 10 months on the jeep. I left on there because they served their purpose but they didn't look so hot

I have a Bestop Sunrider on mine for quick opening and had the top rolled back, with the rear window open and front windows cracked and had no major wind issues at 75 mph this morning on a drive into the hill country. I also usually have the visors in the up position which I find act like a bit of a wind deflector.
