I'm absolutely dumbfounded on the posts from today....you all ordered manual transmission gladiators within the past 4 to 6 weeks and it's already built or in the process of being built????

I checked w/ jeep chat earlier - I placed an order for a manual rubicon back on march 28th and all they have to say is materials are ready for build........I just don't get it
I think the destination has a bigger role to play in scheduling than we think, gotta fill those transport cars.

I hear you! Everyone says (including me) there has to be a rhyme and reason to the builds but frankly it doesn’t make any sense. Unless of course you say what everyone is thinking, Jeep isn’t overly concerned about old orders and is pushing out newer orders. There must be some reason to focus more on recent orders.

We have to remember our sample data set is small compared to the actual pot, so we can forget that. But, the evidence does seem to point towards they don’t give a shit about older orders.
I'm just having a hard time trying to understand a rational for the delay of older orders? Does Jeep want me to cancel my order? Surely, they don't want to lose 50k ? especially given the current economic climate or do they?

This thought crossed my mind - the dealership I placed my order with is in Virginia and is rather large and high volume

You may be right, destination may play a big role. I live in Cleveland, OH, just hours from the Toledo plant. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. It only makes sense to complete the older orders first, I can’t figure out their prioritization for knocking these orders out of order

The one trend for those currently being built seemed to be sport s or sport base models with manuals. So batching by trim lines and transmission types, no matter the order timing? Other than that it’s anybody's guess.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they run stuff in batches to smooth any possible inconsistencies in production.

Good news, I'm in KZ this morning!

Of course Jeep Chat still says I'm in JB, but my guy is in a different system and has better info. I should be on the build completed list this am (GasparsRevenge). He says he's working with the corp. logistics office this morning to "prioritize my shipment". I asked what that meant and he said it'll be put on the next load out that's headed my way, as opposed to waiting in a holding lot for weeks waiting my turn to ship out (sorry @YAABUGGN). Looks like I'm cutting the line.

My dealer says it typically takes between 1 and 2 weeks total to arrive at the dealer lot. Let's see how quick it ships out.

anyone put any thought into hard deadlines for themselves. I am thinking by august 1st if mine hasn't been built to go ahead and cancel. Maybe re order next spring or a 2021. Perhaps buy something off the lot. one of the jeep chat guys sent my info up the chain and I got an email saying it would be built the week of June 29th. So hopefully that happen.s what are everyones thoughts who have been waiting since March? anyway to get the deposit back or put on hold till I place my order again?

That’s a VERY wise decision in my opinion. I just can’t believe people who ordered in March aren’t getting their orders yet. That's extremely frustrating. I think an August deadline is very gracious. I probably couldn’t wait that long. The whole point in putting in a special order is to get EXACTLY what you want, just can’t imagine waiting 4-5 months for it. If you’re not pressed for a car (you have a reliable daily driver now) I’d say wait it out as long as possible. People do say it’s worth the wait. The Gladiator is such a BAD ASS TRUCK!

I think batching by trim, transmission type, color, etc makes sense for efficiency.

I doubt if destination enters into the scheduling of builds, rather that would be a separate issue of sorting the plant output. Destination would, of course, effect delivery times.

In any case it is guesswork for us who do not have any inside information.

For me, I was waiting either way. I figured the truck price would see a raise again on the 2021 and I was getting frustrated watching the price climb for months on end already.

Whether or not you cancel and get the deposit back is solely on the dealer. If you cancel, the dealer has to try and sell the truck. If it's a popular trim with the right packages they would probably be more inclined to let you do it.

If you are going to apply the deposit to another special order (say the 2021 as you mentioned) I think the dealer will be more inclined to let you cancel too. I'd bet your chances decrease though if you were waiting until the spring because they need the money now more so than ever. So don't tell them that part :)

My opinion, ask the dealer straight up. Be honest and share your thoughts so they are forewarned and don't feel blindsided. It's anyones guess on what they would do. On one hand they could say no because they need the money and the sale. Or, they could say yes because it's an opportunity to get a fresh vehicle on the lot.

Agree with all of the above EXCEPT color. I know for a fact that color doesn't play into production. I stated the same as you and was corrected on this lol. There's a really knowledgeable guy on the Jeep Gladiators FB group who actually works at Jeep HQ. He is a manager over the planning and production of Wranglers and Gladiators. He said color plays zero factor in it because they have 11 paint bays so they are always painting all colors.

yeah It will be my 3rd vehicle so not pressed for a daily driver. I do feel like when I am driving it I will love it. but I have def lost my enthusiasm over the purchase. especially now that other peoples orders who have ordered after me have been built. It feels like the feeling is probably mutual for the purchase between jeep and myself. If that makes any sense. I am imagining getting this in Sept. driving topless for a few weeks before regretting I didn't get the cold weather group.
