I just bought the Kuat NV 2.0 Base. Works great..tailgate will open fully with the rack down & empty, and will tilt back enough to open the tailgate. I can even open it with the rack on & up (empty)...it's open 1/3 open. It doesn't move at all and works great...I just took it on the interstate and driving 65-70 without issue. It's expensive, but worth it!
I have ordered the same rack. Everything is on back order right now so it won’t be here until the end of the month. I also ordered the swing away arm the allows you to rotate the bikes 120 degrees to the passenger side giving full access to the bed of the truck without removing the bikes.

This is not the cheapest...but rock solid, and you have the option for up tp 4 bikes as well as internal locks. It also bends down so your tailgate can open fully.

I ended up selling mine and using a tailgate pad. Much better for ease of use. Not ideal for long hauls with extra gear, but works great too.

This my set-up. I really wanted something that worked with a tonneau cover. KB Voodoo crossbars, cheap fork mount with thru-axle adapter, and an old wheel tray. The rear wheel tray needs some tweaking to keep it more stabilized but it works for now.

Edit: I have since put on a Rocky Mounts Jet Liner bike rack that mounts using the C-channel connectors.

Im using bed racks with Amazon fork mounts that work great:

Before I got the bedracks I was using a Seasucker mount on the back window and that did just fine too:

Do you have any pictures of the seasucker set up im trying to understand which options i should go with on the seasucker site

I’ve go my 1up mounted off the side of the bed rail. It leaves the bed open to haul other stuff and with the 1up it only takes 5 seconds to load my bike. I really like this setup.
can you give a close up of how you mounted it.

My 1UP bike rack works awesome on the Gladiator - the tailgate can open when you lower the bike rack too (with bikes on it).

I have a single and another single that can bolt on to allow for carrying 2 bikes. I love the flexibility to be able to have the single bike carrier when it's just me.

I know this is an old post. When the rack is folded up. How much does it extend past the bumper.

Not sure I'm reading your question right - I'm assuming you mean how far does it stick out of the hitch receiver when folded?

If so: it is a little adjustable since it can be pushed in all the way or it can be pulled out of the receiver a bit and then tightened down - probably several inches of variance there depending on preference. I personally fold it up and push it in as far as possible without the rack touching the red tow hooks and then tighten it down at that spot.

So it can get as close to the bumper as you want it, but obviously can't push in any further folded up after it hits the tow hooks.

If you mean how far to the side does it extend past the bumper, the answer is none. Once the arms are folded in the rack is not wider than the bumper.

Most of my bike hauling consists of short trips to local trails. Just purchased the Dakine small tailgate pad which fits the 53" tailgate perfectly and allows use of backup camera.
