I had mine done last week. Works like a charm now. I had a persistent pull to the right from the day I bought the truck; the problem is now gone and the truck stays centered like a champ.

I don't get why TSB's are denied. Don't they get paid to do them?
Yes , they do get paid, very well I’m told, I asked my service guy about the TSB on the steering box replacement, he had the parts ordered before our conversation was over, parts are supposed to be in next week, they already have the bolt kit. I’m going to remove my synergy bracket, and my winch (I do believe they have to remove the grill) before I bring it in

Hmmm. My dealer is telling me it's $160 diagnosis fee if it is not the wandering steering.
I guess now I'm trying to figure out if I have this issue. Certain times it pulls with the crown and feels like it wanders all over and other times it feels OK. I'm on 33s with 33-34psi. A few times on the highway it was quite hard control it. Anyone in the springs have this issue?

I think mine drives okay but it definitely wanders a bit at highway speeds and will follow road crown much more than I have experienced in the past. My TRJ on 33s did not do this - steering in that was tight as a drum and inspired total confidence.

Since it's not a pressing issue I'm going to wait until I go for my first oil change and schedule it at that point. My dealer has been good to me so far, this one may be the real test

Sounds like the dealer wants to try to get paid by both parties, I would check out another dealer just for the hell of it

Yeah, they made it out like a gamble. If it is the issue, it's FREE. If it's my imagination it's $160.

One tried to pull the same thing on me. Either take it somewhere else or get jeep cares involved before you take it to them. Thats insane.

I don’t see why a dealer would play a customer like that, considering the TSB , and the obvious complaints, and you know someone in that dealership follows the forums , if they fix it they get paid, happy customers usually return for other repairs , service , and new vehicles !

I had mine diagnosed while it was still stock. One of the first questions they asked when I called about it was if I had oversized tires. I asked him if it made a difference what tires I had and he said it did not. The part is on order. Since then, I raised the front 2.5" and the rear .75" and swapped on shocks and front springs to Rubicon take-offs.
I also installed the auxiliary switch kit since mine didn't have it from the factory. I was told it would be $155 to flash for the switches. What I am wondering now, is someone here said they flashed the computer for the steering box tsb. If that's so, do I need to ask them to do it for the switches or will it automatically pick them up? TIA

I was a service manager for Nissan about 35 years ago, we gained more customers back then by being honest and addressing the issues that other dealers were trying to charge for, when they were covered by warranty

Lots of dialog on this, but a TSB is only a “recommendation” in the dealers eyes since it’s not progressed to a safety “recall”. Had to take mine to the dealer so they could confirm the problem and order the parts. That was three weeks ago and they confirmed there is a nationwide back order on the parts, so here I sit waiting for the call.

I was informed that they had a massive back order on the parts. The service rep told me this one was a "monster" in the eyes of her manager.

I also had a persistent pull to the right, and got mine done last week. It took several weeks to get the parts, the long bolt was the major hold up, the other parts come in quickly. My dealer gave the JT a quick test drive and ran the computer check, then ordered the parts right away. They even had the frint aligned after replacing the steering bits. Grand service from them.

The TSB replacement fixed the issuem stearing is much tighter now. Glad I did not wait, given the parts backlog.
cheers

Everyone READ the TSB again - the dealer is not to diagnose other than look for stored codes and software issues, otherwise, it says if customer complains, FIX IT.

What part of that LAST LINE, PAGE 1 of the TSB do these dealers not understand?

I supposed I should not print it out and go in there with a hi-lighter.
